I know this is about the Cait oneshot, but can we look at Malz avoiding the Q knockup? It's max range and as Malz gets out it goes off. He BARELY makes it out of the max range Q. That isn't broken or anything, but it helps show that it's not "the easiest skillshot to dodge" it's actually reliable against enemies that don't build 3 movement speed items or have innate MS steroids.

Carteeeer8 votes

they should just nerf stoneplate by making true damage also reduced

there problem solved

Nyarlathοtep5 votes

This means that every true dmg would be reduced by sona's powerchord and exhaust. You know true dmg is supposed to be the kind of dmg that you cant itemize or reduce.

Anyway the best thing riot can do to restrict cho because lets be honest, it wont take long until everyone catches up and learns that cho right now is a bit of beast, by restricting his ulti. By that i mean something like rek'sai's. So that he wont be able to flash+r. Or at least it will take one more second.

Carteeeer7 votes

no, I've played cho for 3 years and trust me its not his ult or any abilities that are a problem, this stupid stoneplate item is whats making people mad

and if u cant fight against a cho without stoneplate then that comes down to you not knowing how to play against him.

SoundChaosDebug4 votes

30 minutes into the match is enough time for him to stack hp, and he ate a marksman which is suppose to be squishy.

Trofter28 votes

you are justifying the most tanky champ in the game one shotting someone?

SoundChaosDebug1 votes

Clearly cho was just overcompensated in order to get people to play him again, but this just looks like marksman saying we shouldn't be blown up instantly.

Trofter28 votes

an assassin should one shot someone not a tank.

Enloct5 votes

Wait...are you telling me assassins aren't tanks? I'm pretty sure those two words are interchangeable.

Trofter3 votes

oh yeah

Bob the Toastr1 votes

Lol, tell me that after playing Maokai

Enloct2 votes

It was a joke my dude.

That said the "tank assassin" meta was a real thing that occured due to assassins being given kits that were so strong you could just build tank and rely on that.

Now we're seeing the opposite - a tank that does enough damage to 1shot things and be played as an assassin.

SoundChaosDebug2 votes

His ultimate has amazing scaling just like nasus and viegar both have 1 ability with scaling. The longer in game the stronger it will become, at the moment gargoyle immensely buffs a lot of chogath in general. But he is designed to scale with health like a singed can scale with mana.

Killed Inaction18 votes

Nasus doesn't literally one-shot ADCs until 60+ minutes. Veigar is a burst mage. Your point? He's broken.

Jorencice2 votes

Psh. I've one shot ADCs at only 35 minutes.

Crit nasus ftw.

Nasus is easily kited too, since he doesn't have a 2 seconds silence, a knockup+slow and another slow.

YumaS2Astral3 votes

But he has one of the strongest slows in the game, if not the strongest, that slows attack speed too. Not to mention he often gets Ghost, Stormraider's Surge, etc.

flibitydoo1 votes

it's friggin 30 minutes into game in the clip

for veigar to oneshot he basically has to be squishy to get that ap high enough which basically makes it so he get's oneshot by everything else

for nasus to oneshot the game needs to be either 60+ minutes against players that didn't build armour/health or he needs to have a 10 kill advantage.

SoundChaosDebug2 votes

The thing in common is they have specific scaling stats, I never said they were all made equal. I am just saying in the current state of chogath he is stronger than ever before.

During game over time length there are a lot of variables, by 30 minutes into a match I expect a chogath who knows what he is doing to have a ton of health.

Ap Mid Burst2 votes

A marksmen shouldn't be blown up by one ability from a tank. Another marksmen, assassin, mage, or even brusier, shouldn't even one shot a marksmen with one ability. One rotation or a few autos, maybe, but one ability?

PB4UAME1 votes

Good thing Cho isn't a tank, huh?

Also, its usually 1-2 item actives, plus landing CC from 1-3 abilities, then flashing and ulting.

Even in the super rare cases of Cho being able to walk up, somehow to enemies who have no CC, or mobility, and don't kite, he still needs an item active plus a melee ranged ult to do his true damage.

WoonStruck2 votes

If you aren't bad at the game, you'll take summoner 6 summoner 11

Chogath item 1401 item 3800 item 3742 item 3193item 3009 and something out of item 3102 item 3022 item 3152 item 3190 item 3143 item 3027 item 3053 item 3065 item 3748 item 3083 item 3512

An ADCs not outrunning that.

Keep in mind Cho is not going to be the primary initiator.

Your team is literally throwing if the enemy is able to kite cho for that long.

cho'gath ate her quicker than joeysworldtour ate the nutella

Kairoptra3 votes

Maybe because he's super immobile in that he can be outmaneuvered by jumps and dashes relatively easily, and the only ability that isn't telegraphed is his W? I really don't see how that clip is proof; they literay HAD to have fed that Cho'Gath to get him to that point. If they gave him that many feast stacks by staying on low health while knowing he could flash feast them, they deserved to lose. The only other kill besides Caitlyn was a last minute KS onto the Malzahar after the Zed had bursted him. Not to mention almost everyone was focusing Cho instead of going for the more vulnerable targets.

RavenMagus2 votes

6500 hp before stoneplate with ~200 in both defenses He takes forever to kill, and if you screw up at all (or he simply flashes) you instantly die

Yeah, that's a lot of fun to play against

Kairoptra1 votes

May I ask why you're focusing the tank and not the other, more vulnerable players? Also, Stoneplate reduces your damage dealt by 60%, so if he does enough damage to the point where that doesn't matter, chances are you/someone on your team made enough bad decisions to stay in lane on low health, knowing he can flash feast you/them, to where maybe you/they need to reevaluate yourself/themselves instead of Riot's balancing capabilities.

RavenMagus6 votes

Because if you ignore him, he'll just walk up and ult you and you die. Why would you ignore that?

Also, in case you're not aware, Stoneplate doesn't decrease his ult damage. It actually increases it, to the point where it can legitimately one-shot squishier champions.

Kairoptra3 votes

If the problem is that he just walks up to you and ults, then stay away from him. Get yourselves fed by catching out his teammates or using mobility to maneuver around him and take them out. Cho'Gath isn't the only one with burst. Eventually, you'll get enough gold/XP to get anti-tank items like BotRK, Liandry's, and Lord Dominik's.

Also... what you're saying is that the tool tip should say "lowers damage by 60% on all champions except Cho'Gath"? Yes, the damage is increased because of the health increase, but the damage reduction still exists. As I said, if you/someone on your team are/is feeding Cho, knowing full well his capabilities, to the point where the damage reduction doesn't matter, maybe you/they are the problem.

He's super immobile in that he can be outmaneuvered by jumps and dashes relatively easily. Additionally, all of his abilities besides his W are telegraphed to the point where it's your own fault if you feed. You know what he does, so why don't you try to counter him?

yeah, I think you need to check your facts first before defending Cho :P

That's one of the biggest reasons everyone is complaining about Cho'gath right now. The damage reduction does not reduce true damage dealt at all. Because the damage reduction actually doesn't exist for his ult. It's a pure damage increase.

Kairoptra2 votes

I'll concede that I didn't know that true damage was unaffected by Stoneplate's damage reduction, but if that's all you have to say, then all my other points still stand.

kiting really worked for the Cait when cho flash Feasted her haha!!

True damage isn't reduced or increased by any means in the game, true damage is true damage. If Cho R was magic damage nobody would build Stoneplate for the damage because the cheese wouldn't work.

Your argument sucks

Kairoptra3 votes

Please read the full argument between me and RacenMagus. I admitted that I was ill-informed, but I now see I wasn't the only one.

Also, please point out where I mentioned kiting. For someone so prepared to criticize my argument, you sure know how to make one that has no bearing on it.

You failed to address several of the other points I made. I said to avoid him and catch out his teammates. His abilities are super telegraphed, and he can only use feast once per team fight, so he's super reliant on his team for folllow-up.

I also made it clear that anti-tank items do exist in the game, specifically BotRK, Liandry's, and Lord Dominik's. If you know what he does, then at least try to counter him. And If you get flash feasted, then that just opens up an opportunity for a teammate to pick up where you left off.

Know that this is coming from a Mastery Level 5 ex-Cho'Gath main when I say that if you gat dumpstered by one, a good amount of it is your fault. You're basing the statement that he's OP on a single-target ability that can only be used once per team fight and the fact that he's tanky. If he can only use it once per team fight, take the initiative and take at least one of the enemy out so that if he flash feasts one of you, you'll at least be even in numbers. And as I said earlier, anti-tank items do exist.

In case you're wondering why I wrote so much, it's so that you don't have to go back and read my argument, since you clearly didn't to begin with. I thought it would be more convenient if it was all in one place.

The steam life1 votes

the problem with chogath for me is the amount of skill it takes to outplay chogath is way higher than it takes to kill with him. Ive been playing syndra and ill keep kiting and kiting and kiting but i get hit by one q in the thick of things or someone on the enemy team cc's me. (yes his team also has cc some of which is not kiteable) and then he will knockup and ult and all he ended up doing was walking and pressing q and r thats not fun.

In addition if he just walks towards me he can zone me away from the fight so its a 4v5 because our carries cant walk past a 10,000 health cho that has more armor and mr than a full tank garen and can still kill us with minimal effort.

Kairoptra3 votes

If he hits you in the thick of things, that's called good teamwork on the Cho'Gath's part and getting caught out on your part; not Cho being overpowered.

He's incredibly easy to maneuver around with high-mobility champions who more often than not have quite a bit of damage so that even if you get zoned into a 4v5, you can even the odds. You need to coordinate with your team to get around him and take out his teammates. You're so focused on the fact that he can one-shot people that you forget that he can only use it once per team fight. If he doesn't have a team to back him up, that's all he can do before being forced back by your team.

If you know what he can do, then try to figure out how to play against him instead of immediately complaining. The answer is pretty simple: don't focus the tank. Take out his teammates from a distance instead of trying to kill someone who you know is a waste of time to kill. Eventually you'll get fed off of them to where you can turn the game around.

As a side note, if you aren't already, buy anti-tank items (for Syndra, go Liandry's, it synergizes really well with her kit since the burn damage it gives is doubled against movement-impaired targets).

I really hate how Cho can stack health faster than Sion and no longer has repercussions for dying.

It doesn't matter how much flat damage you build, he'll take it and more.

A full rotation from Veigar with 750ish AP only did 12-15% of his hp.

Basically if you don't have max % health damage or true damage, Cho'Gath will be a big almost permanent pain in the ass.

(Ironically enough he has both the % damage and true damage in his kit lol)
