The problem with Caitlyn (not a hate post, actual solutions!!!!!)
Okay so please do not take me for a hard ADC/Caitlyn hater, but she is a problem at this moment.
Her complete and versatile kit brings her the utility and damage all champions are craving for to turn a fight instantly, when used properly. And from a ridiculous range, to be honest (hello rapidfire cannon boys).
At this point, I don't mind her range, I don't mind her headshot, it's part of her kit, it's part of the champion. But her traps.
Her fuck*ng traps.
Why the hell can a ADC have 5 traps DOWN ON THE GROUND + 5 in her inventory. 2 sec is a long root, but hey, multiplied by 10, she has more cc than nautilus in her kit.
The fact that she can INSTANLTY root a target cc'ed for more than 1 second (which probably guarantee an other cc right after, just saying) is an other issue. It also guarantee a headshot, but I'm kinda fine with that, it's her kit.
I don't mind getting headshoted. She's an adc. I mind getting cc'ed and damaged at the same time by an adc who is, most of the time, out of my reach.
I'm not only making a post to complain, I have propositions:
- Make her traps destructible with a channel time (like rek'sai?):
Making her traps destructible,but with a channel time would be a good thing to nerf her late game objective control, but not her laning phase or sieging. You would need to channel 1 or 1.5 seconds (or maybe scaling with her ability level) to remove a trap. (Edit due to RalanR's comment:You would have to stand aside the trap, like when autoattacking a teemo shroom, but instead you are disarming the trap). This would allow caitlyn to freely auto-attack you for the duration (which is good in lane) and keep her bully state. And you still can missclick or not see the traps and get rooted and headshoted. But this would release some pressure of her opponents. This would also nerf her trap walls at baron late game, since tanks will be able to disarm them and let their team enter the fight without them being chuncked by a full build headshot crit in the face caitlyn.
- Increase the arming delay (and/or nerf the range):
Not gonna lie the fact that she can guarantee cc on you from her aa range is pretty unfair. Either increase the arming delay or nerf the range would add some counter-play to those little yordle snap traps:
Nerfing the arming delay would allow people to flash out or to react to like a blitzcrank grab without instantly dying. Nerfing the range would make caitlyn put herslef in a more dangerous zone to effectively use her traps (like stop sitting behind tower or minions and trapping the whole lane without being even in danger).
For sure there is still the good old cooldown nerfs. But this won't fix anything and this won't add any counterplay to her traps.
I still want her to be a bully laner, a good sieging champ and a good objective controller late game. But she needs more counterplay, especially in the current meta.
Let me know if this seems like a good path to take with Caitlyn or if it's just not good.
