Quick Gameplay Thoughts: January 18

This is a follow up on a riot support ticket I submitted in which I was recommended to go to the boards with. (I'll admit it was pretty dumb of me to go to riot support on a subject like this since they don't deal with the balance and meta of the game.) If this doesn't gather enough attention I may go take this post to reddit.

In this post I wanna bring attention to damage, the state of jungle, conqueror & armor pen items vs. tank items, and the issues with certain mid laners.

I really hope to bring attention to this post and list some pretty annoying issues currently with in the game. As most of everyone agrees from the posts I've read, damage really has been too high which has made many feel that the game is very frustrating. I don't think anyone finds it very fun to get blown up by someone when they try to go up and cs while at 100% health. Just doesn't feel good at all. I wanna propose certain ideas and hope to get some feedback on them. One of my ideas is to change the rune system to have much more defensive options. The amount of damage options heavily out class the defensive options. So many runes give more damage rather than defensive stats. Out of 17 keystones, only 6 don't deal direct damage while 11 do damage. This of course means some of the runes that don't deal damage can still LEAD to damage such as glacial augment and phase rush. Many of the smaller runes add on damage compared to the ones that reduce the damage. I honestly don't know what could be changed in terms of defensive stats except maybe bringing them up to the level of strength that damage runes have. Feel free to add suggestions and criticisms to the post as it always helps more then it can hurt!

My biggest gripe with all of this though is the following post by meddler I have linked. Their was a claim that they would look into damage and do something to reduce it. This post was back in January. Three months have passed and the most changes they have done to damage is very small. The community still lists complaints about damage but little to nothing has been done about it which conflicts with that very post. I don't think enough people have called the balance department of riot out on this. Since very few people have pointed this out, they effectively get away with making these promises with no consequences at all, while at the same time doing next to nothing about the issues of the game.

Next is the state of jungle. I don't think anyone enjoys what the jungle has become. Tanks are completely useless in the jungle due to the scuttle crab meta. Currently in silver there are only 3 tank junglers with an above 50% winrate. Those being, Amumu, Rammus, and Nunu & Willump. In platinum, there are only 2 tank junglers with an above 50% winrate. Those being, Rammus, and Nunu & Willump. A huge portion of junglers aren't viable in the slightest. For example, near any tank jungler will be counter jungled by almost all of the meta picks and become useless. For example, if you were to pick say maokai or zac in the jungle, you would be invaded by for example, vi, udyr, & jarvan. There is nothing you can do to contest scuttle crab without help from your team, or even contest your own jungle. My suggestion to just to flat out remove the scuttle crab changes. Doing this would add so many champions back into being viable for the jungle. If you have any suggestions on the jungle please add them! Everyone's experience and knowledge on the game can be valuable.

Now for another reasons most tanks aren't viable: Their items are near worthless against conqueror, & resistance penetrating items. Armor items such as item 3068 & item 3075 are useless against conqueror & item 3124 among lethality items. Guinsoos makes it so you can't build any items to counter it with it having magic pen AND armor pen and this isn't even mentioning phantom hits! On top of all this tanks will just get one shot before they can build their own armor items due to them having nothing to stop this. Getting set behind too much means that once you build one armor item, the enemy that is head will have two more items to counter it. A suggestion to to gut the penetration on guinsoos and make it so conqueror is old fervor of battle but without the true damage.

Now on to mid lane. I think that when people mention one shots that a lot of them are sick of seing brand, zyra, & vel'koz support bot lane. I believe the reason that certain champions like this move to the support role is because of fear of being insta killed mid lane by ad champions such as zed and talon. Since those champions have very high damage poke they work well in bot lane and in a lot of cases out damage the mid laner.

I hope that this post can give some more insight on a lot of the problems in this game. People complain about the game because they care about it. Just keep in mind that riot needs to be held accountable for making a promise 3 months ago and yet to have follow up on that promise.

This was my first really major post that i've done so please correct me if i'm wrong on certain things in this post! I'd love to hear suggestions from the community.
