Too many crutches and forgiving gameplay this pre-season.
As if last season Riot didn't go overboard with their anti-snowballing agenda, they are back at it again this pre-season and harder than ever.
Is massive snowballing fun to play against? Of course not. It's not fair to lose the game because you were the first to die. I get that. But come on, I don't even feel rewarded for good play after patch 4.20. The amount of safety nets that are now in the game for bad teams to catch up until the point at 40-50 minutes where 1 fight wins it all is absurd.
You lowered early stat advantages in lanes to help with snowballing. I for one think this is a good change. But you should have left it here.
Next you MASSIVELY, and i mean MASSIVELY buffed turrets. You have made siege so insanely difficult relative to last season that turrets are nothing more than huge crutches for bad teams to cower under and turtle for 15-20 minutes. Continuous damage is fine, it prevents the juggling that was problematic. But the damage scaling + continuous + true damage is ridiculous. So many playmaking opportunities under towers have been eliminated with these changes. With uncoordinated solo-queue teams, I find it's a stall war until super late game when a baron or single pick wins everything. It shouldn't be this way. Good play for 40 minutes should not be shoved to the side because the team that got outplayed was able to dance around under super turrets until gold advantage means nothing.
But Riot didn't stop there. Oh no, this game is already not forgiving enough for bad players. What else can we do? Oh I know, let's lower mid game death timers to make sieges even MORE difficult. Instead of spawn timers increasing percent wise at 25 minutes, it now starts at 35 minutes. So now you have more difficult towers to take down, AND less time to do it. Bravo. Turtle mode engaged.
This is a MOBA. Snowballing will happen, and in order for a game to be rewarding to its players, you need to have advantages. If you want healthy competition you need to stop this incessant hand-holding. At this point, why not just start the game at 30 minutes. Hell, why not just reduce the game to a coin toss, because that's what it feels like.
This game seems to be heading in a competitive dead end direction. I'd much rather play a game where I feel my teammates and I's good play is rewarded with power, advantages, and ultimately victory. Instead I feel like I'm fighting against multiple walls put up by the developer who is trying so very hard to keep the poorer team afloat.
