I think some of the dev corner posts on the topic of toplane seemed to illustrate that top fell off harder at higher mmr, but was more or less fine at mmrs below 1800 or so.

So good job and stuff, but it's only the last handful of games there that are getting into the territory where the state of toplane is theoretically an issue. Many top laners are susceptible to kiting for example, but lower elo doesn't do that very well. Ignite+rene seems very intent on snowballing hard too, which I feel like at high level is less reliable compared to the global pressure of TP.

top lane has been the best solo carry role in soloq for a long-ass time. if a top laner doesn't have impact on a game, it's because he fucking sucks. teleport is massive.

Level 26 EUNE, playing ranked solo. I'm sure.

The sheer rage I feel from seeing anybody win a game of Renekton with ignite makes me want to let out a scream of the autistic variety.
