Harder Champions Don't Feel Worth the Effort Compared to Easy Ones

OK, so I'm trying out Aatrox today, and I wind up fighting a Jax in the top lane. I do my best to fight him, and for the most part I think I did a pretty good job of hitting him with my Q and W. The problem is, he still did more damage than I did simply by auto-attacking me, even when I landed my full combo perfectly. My question is, what even is the point of playing a more advanced champion when the simple ones are so strong?

In Top Lane, Jax, Tryndamere, etc. are all insanely strong, and all they have to do is waltz up and click on you. They all can take towers like nobody's business too, especially Trynd who can just pop his ult, and then pretty much nothing outside of a stun will save your turret from getting destroyed.

In the Mid Lane, Malzahar and Annie just point and click ult you, and if they don't kill you with their insane damage, their team takes advantage and you'll die to one of them. I know cleanse can work against Annie, but it doesn't do anything against Malz. I also know these two have issues with range, but Flash, Predator, and other movement enhancing items make this issue irrelevant.

It's just so frustrating to try my hardest at actually getting some mechanics, skill shots, etc down, and then I get owned by someone who just point and clicks their way to victory. Like seriously, I really love this game, but these champions make me not want to play anymore.

Realize that because they are simple, they have far less going for them. Their binary playstyles make them REALLY good in one field, and that is it. Case in point with Try and Jax, they are really good duelist and split pushers, but shit in just about everything else compared to other top laners. Jax and Try can't team fight on the same level an Aatrox can. With Annie and Malzahar, they are so simple compared to other mages and lack the mobility and utility other mages have. It is all a give and take.

I think that the Jax can't teamfight is a myth. Especially when I see him used in Pro Play. As a diver, he has a team wide stun with his E. That's fantastic compared to other things you can get. Then especially late, he's so tanky (with his ult, then his E) and does so much damage. He can defnitely team fight with his low cooldown mobility.

No decent team is actually going to let multiple people get hit by that stun, it’s range is short as hell.

Not as tanky as you think.

No, he really can’t, he can skirmish, but Jax cant team fight.

Well, seeing as how aatrox is pick and ban on the highest of highest play, i'd say he's actually worth investing time into.

Blame Riot for nerfing high skillcap champs just because of proplay.

Mr Bob Boberson2 votes

What do you mean? Nerfing a high skill characters just because less than 0.1% of players use them in pro play is definitely a good idea and not terrible for the rest of us

Actually its champs like Aatrox that make me dodge que, he may not be the strongest but he is annoying. Like Ekko, Ahri, Illaoi etc all toxic champs.

Given Aatrox punishes jax in lane, this is more of a "you" problem.

Also, it would be stupid to make more complex champs better than simple champs. Being hard to play doesnt give inherent benefits, else why play simple champs?

But mechanics should beat non mechanics in duels

Could it be that you just fucked up? Naaaaaaah it must be the broken enemy.

Hammermancer1 votes

Depending on the meta meyaand the champions involved it could be either

The fact is if you get an enemy garen who goes mid and somehow wins, no amount of mechanical riven skills will be able to beat him

This is similar in certain patches with malphite, maokai, poppy, and other tanks/juggernauts

They just cant be killed by your mechancs but they can permalock you down amd kill you

Tanks arent the only offenders but they're a good example

it should tho. or else whats the point? Why should i have to dodge people in and out super precisely to do what Annie can do just by Clicking all her buttons on you if you get into range?

These champions are a double-edged sword, as they are much more predictable and with much clearer weaknesses than the rest.

I've always found mechanically intensive champions to be far more rewarding to play for only about 2 or 3 games before it's tiresome. I fuckin love Draven and Lucian, but one loss and I'm back to Jhin

Same with Camille and Jax

Ekko and Vel

Thresh and Alistar

Camille and Rengar

I have to be completely untilted to play the former champions, and play them well, but I can do alright with the latters no matter what
