Rek'Sai lacks a lot of things

ArmoredGunner··2 votes·965 views

Wow. So i just played Rek'Sai on PBE, and i realised, she is compleeeeteellyy undone. She lacks so much, for example, her W isnt as rewarding as ur giving away vision range and access to basic attacks for only 15 movespeed early game. That makes her ganking power very low. And, her burrowed Q should have a slow for chasing down spotted targets. Without that, her ganking power is even lower..., Her burrowing needs more competitiveness, like she should be immune to slows/disables when burrowed, untargettable and invisible when using tunnels (duh, shes going underground.) I hope my advice is taken into account and hopefully tackle with Rek'Sai for improvements.

:D

help me think of how she should be better?? lol.

Not every champion needs their Q to do 3 things.

yeah but without the slow on q she cant really chase anyone down or really gank that great if your tunnel doesnt come out near them

Should we tell him?

You're supposed to learn your E mate.

Pretty sure the bonus of the W isn't the small amount of movespeed, it's the healing and ability to knock someone up after you're under them. And sure you give up vision range, but you can still "see" much farther through the seismic sense. Doesn't matter what they look like when you can tell where they are.

Having a slow on the Q does sound good though.

Having her be invisible while underground or immune to effects leaves little to no room for counterplay as you can't do anything to stop her while she's chasing you. It's an idea that sounds great to anyone playing her, but everyone who has to run from her won't be able to do anything to stop her, which reduces counterplay. Riot's not going to do something like that.

maybe if they gave her like bonus tenacity while burrowed that might work?

If she's not invisible, sure.

of course why on earth would she be invisible?

Well, from everything I've seen it seems like Rek'Sai is trading a lot of punch in her kit proper for increased mobility via her tunnels and ultimate. I think the trick to playing is going to be using the ability to traverse areas and move from objective to objective quickly. She seems in line with the more unusual characters Riot's been releasing lately - tricky to use champions with unique strengths you have to learn to play around with and leverage.

A slow on her burrowed Q might be helpful! But she really seems like one of those characters where if you improve her ganking by much, she could get way more powerful than intended. I think it'll depend on how strong taking odd paths and circumventing wards with her E is going to end up being in practice. Or, maybe ganking just isn't meant to be her strongest suit. Worse case scenario you can always take Stalker's Blade. :D

I think she's just meant to be a champ with a lot of intangible benefits in her kit, rather than overt strength, if that makes sense.

She looks like she has a weird playing style, much like Azir does. Just let people figure it out. Her level 6 ganks look like they could be godlike.

Also her q should probably slow.

Riot has always rewarded players for landing skill-shots. For example they changed Ahri to be more rewarding for landing her stuff. Like you said the AP scaling makes absolutely no sense. There's nothing wrong with scaling a magic damage ability with AD such as Shyvana's burnout.

There is an idea to make the Q mark the target and she gets more move speed going towards the target, which is similar to Nidalee. So it either must have a slow or move speed.

You're right about she should get something more while using her tunnels. When I watched a video where she uses a tunnel and Janna knocks her up my mind just did a double take. It didn't make any sense. Some people complain that it will make it harder to deal with her, but she should get something. Perhaps you can still damage her but she can't be disabled. So either: can't be disabled, or untargetable while using tunnels. Perhaps she should even move a little faster than they have her doing now too.

There does seem to be a bug on the PBE where you can see all the tunnels of an enemy Rek'Sai after a certain amount of time, which makes it that even putting them in bushes doesn't do anything. I'm sure they are fixing this.

One last bit I'd like to add as my personal touch. Champs like this that need to be in melee range usually get some sort of reward for engaging and staying on a target other than just simply killing the target. I'm speaking of champs like Tryndamere, Scarner, Shyvana and Xin Zhao. All melee characters that have a similar mechanic. That being that auto-attacking reduces the cooldown of abilities. (Yes I know Xin needs his Q but yes it's the same mechanic.) All of them have the same idea in mind, which is sticking to a target. I think Rek'Sai should have something similar. I know the idea of having her ultimate be reduced by engaging in combat is too much to ask so I won't. Her Q and W are on such a low cooldown that it would be silly to ask for that either. What I would ask for is that for every hit of Queen's Wrath (Her unburrowed mode Q) her E for both Furious Bite and Tunnel the cooldown is reduced. It may need tweeking, but let's say 0.5 seconds, and 1 second on champions. Should it also reduce the timer for knocking up targets? Nah that would probably be asking for too much. I'm sure they'll do an 8 second timer by the end of it anyway.

All of these things need to be tested, but that's why she's on the PBE right now.

I don't know much about her But I am wondering what her role in team fights would be? She doesn't seem like much of a tank with such a low amount of CC only having that knock up and she doesn't seem like she would be a very good bruiser since she doesn't seem to have a very good way to stick to people to pound away at them... She seems weird...

Or should she just be split pushing?

You have any clue?
