How does matchmaking work?

I am ranked silver and recently i have been feeling that I am usually going against a lot higher elo players than me while i have a lot of lower elo players on my side. I thought it was just a feeling so in the last 20 games i hvae played i decided to go record the rankings of each player i was with and playing against.

Anyways here are the numbers I came up with when I decided to keep track of 20 consecutive games.

My SIde:

Unranked - 22 Silver - 38 (58 if you include me) Gold -10 Plat - 4 Diamond - 6

Opponent Side:

Unranked - 32 Silver - 22 Gold - 6 Plat - 19 Diamond -21

SO! anyone have any idea how matchmaking actually works in unranked that the games are this skewed.

This isn't a post meant to seem like I'm pissed or annoyed, I am just very curious as to how the matchmaking system actually works in normals.

lol hold up, you're silver and got matched up with DIAMONDS? thats pretty ridiculuos bro, you shouldnt even be matched with golds unless theyre either gold V or have gotten banned a bunch of times

My getting daimonds might have to do with the fact that i climbed up the elo latter relatively quickly after being placed in silver 4 (climbing up to platinmum with a 70% win rate). deciding that I wanted to be bronze so losing as much as possible to get down to bronze, and I am currently in silver V, but the game won't let me go any further with that.

YES I ADMIT I AM A TROLL, But that is besides the point...

I just wanna know why I get placed with relatively low ELO teams compared to the enemy team.

normals have separate MMR

I understand MMR in normals is seperate from ranked, BUT I doubt the MMR of pple in normals is largely that different than their ranked counterparts, Unless Riot realized what I was doing and decided to team me up with a bunch of trolls whose actual MMR in normals is higher than their ranked MMR.

This could definitely explain it.

you troll in ranked games? thats a dangerous thing to admit on public forums. you should be banned.
