I've Become Disenchanted With the Game

Is there anybody else? I used to be in love with this game. I could spend hours playing and not be bored or frustrated, even after losses. Recently, though, I find myself sitting in front of the computer like a robot, locking into ranked queue day after day. Nothing really comes of it. On anybody's first death, the toxicity is already at extremely high levels. Eventually you have to mute 3 or for people, and then there's no social interaction. It's like this in normals, ARAM, ranked, hell, even in 3's. Now, I just find myself dragging through soloqueue having flame wars with every person that gets mad 2 minutes in and says "gg" if a teammate gives up first blood.

Is there a cure for the way this game has become a time killer instead of a hobby? I really do want to enjoy it again. I've been playing for 5+ years, and put lots of money into playing. I've logged so many hours just because I'm devoted to it. But I don't really see myself lasting much longer.

I've been playing for years and I can safely/confidently state that the game currently has the lowest levels of toxicity ever.

Every year it seems they crack down harder on toxicity and it has had great effect... back in the day (S1/early S2) I could get away with massive toxicity without so much as a chat restriction (They didn't exist back then)... at worst I'd get suspended for a day every few months. Right now they're cracking down pretty damn hard on anyone that is seriously being toxic.

The problem we have now is; Super ultra hyper sensitive children are playing the game and want even MORE of a crack down. It's the "Safe space" argument all over again which of course, is utter garbage.

The game is fine. Toxicity is the lowest its ever been.

I don't think I've ever willingly done this but you can take a break from playing. I've gone on extended trips or lived in a place with terrible internet such that I stopped playing for a month or two.

Everytime I came back refreshed and really enjoying play more. Also I swear I get better when I take trips away. Mind you, generally when I wasn't playing I was watching competitive/reading strategies about it.

This season, I find myself enjoying the game a lot less unless I'am playing a bruiser or tank who can actually survive an assassin's all in. Did really well in my laning phase as Malzahar? Zed still beats me mid to late game unless I go off-tank, which usually means being forced to buy an hourglass. My favorite character Dr. Mundo became overpowered, so now I fear he might go the same way as Gragas or Urgot; niche pick, becomes overpowered, gets nerfs to hell because some pro decided to use him. I had fun playing Jhin, during the moments I wasn't be instagibbed by assassins like Akali or Rengar. Attack Damage itemization in this game is ridicules, to the point I don't even bother with Magic Resistance anymore since all the damage is going to be coming from AD Assassins and health does well against both attack and magic damage; why even bother with magic resistance besides maybe a Banshee's Veil to block some of that assassin burst and the occasionally annoying AP character that limped its way into battle with its less then stellar itemization, only to die to an Assassin that scales better. I only have fun playing bruisers this season, since I like to actually play rather then be instantly killed.

don't play league for like a week, play games you've never played or genres you've never played. you just need to cleanse your pallete

Hated this game since they reworked my main into somethign I can't stand. Mainly play just to troll around at this point. Have not bought RP since Fiora rework.

One of the problems is that this meta is so bad that a death at the first two minutes almost constitutes a "gg", it's not you that has a problem with the game, the game is the problem.

My best advice: Mute everyone at the start of the game and just play. Forget that there are even people playing... you're playing with 9 unpredictable bots who sometimes respond to your pings.

It's been a lot more enjoyable since I took the human element out of the other players.

I've also moved on away from League. I used to play 5+ games a normal day and easily +10 a weekend day. Now I maybe play 1 or 2 daily IF I play at all.

The balance is disgusting The community morphs into something really bad in game Riot clearly doesn't care as much as they did before

Atleast I know that for me, there was 0 $ spent in this game. I've been playing since League is out and I have never, EVER bought RP, when i saw they were becoming sucessful I knew they would eventually turn into a moneygrab company doing shit for their fanbase, so no money for the dicks.

If I had things my way, not a single penny would go into Riot's funds every time they fucked up balanced or did major negative changes

I've just uninstalled recently due to the things you mentioned above. I will not say that this game is a garbage, I've played it for a good 4 years now, but eventually you will come to a point where you can't stand the toxic players and accept Riot's attitude of "rush something out, try to fix it later" anymore.

I'm sure they fill fix the balance issues (or at least recover from the disgusting state it's in), the ranked team question, the new champ select, and so on - I just don't think that I'd like to wait patiently for an indefinite time, spending more money on pretty things that doesn't really matter. You might just approaching this point as well...

I'm almost afraid of what would even happen if we upgraded AP items. We can't have more fucking on hit effects and procs in this game. The game is so busy anymore when you've got 15 effects hitting you at once, just causing you to explode before you even know what is happening.

For me, the game died a long time ago when they "reworked" Cassiopeia in season 4.

That being said, there's the main issue of far too many games ending in extremely onesided curbstomps which only leaves players frustrated. Giving first blood is all it needs to know what kind of flow the game is going to take on.

The snowballing mechanics need to be toned down and towers massively buffed if they expect anyone to put up with this inherently frustrating gameplay. They seriously should consider implementing a surrender option after 15 minutes at this point.

So I have to put up with this almost every game and I get punished for nonsense like this if I dodge. I feel disillusioned like Fyshie and many others, I used to enjoy the game a lot and now find myself wondering why I still log in to just stress myself out. I can see why they are pushing the playing with friends theme since that's pretty much the only way to enjoy the game now.

This a by-product of not having Baddies Island. If they segregate the baddies and give them their own queue, the game would improve overnight, no more flaming, no more arguing trolling intentional badness, etc etc etc.

rito are pretty fucking clueless about their entire game/business model, and just because they caught a goose that lays the golden egg, it's all too easy to let the goose die.
