Is Ezreal downright terrible right now? Why would anyone pick him?

Seriously though... he is extremely squishy, doesn't do much damage until full build, and hardly anyone knows how to play him properly, yet he is such a popular pick in ranked lately (especially in low elo). Do people queue up in ranked with the intention of losing? Just doesn't make any sense.

Despite having a horrible win rate, Ezreal has been a very popular pick amongst my teammates recently. I haven't won a single game in the past month with an Ezreal on my team, and I'm honestly not surprised about it.

It seems that this champion needs some sort of buff, particularly to his early game, to make him more viable, because in his current state if he falls behind even slightly, he becomes downright useless.

They changed ONE SKILL on him! If people learned to stop JUST playing Kai, Vayne and Luc maybe just maybe they wouldn't think he is a bad champion. So far every single Ezreal I've seen has literally flux right into my team tanks and kills himself.

Yeah.

As stupid as this is gonna sound... that one ability is enough of a change that he'll have a learning curve. People are likely playing him that have never played him before, dragging that win rate down a bit.

New rework popularity spike Once a lot of players realize it's not Freelo his popularity will level and his winrate will climb.

Unless riot is dumb and buffs him

Well, if he isn't getting a buff, can Riot at least implement some kind of restriction that you can't bring a champion into a ranked game unless you've either played a certain number of games as that champion in the previous season in ranked or in the current season in normals? I'm beyond sick & tired of seeing people selecting a champion they have little to no experience with and using it in a ranked game just for the lulz. Doing that is, IMO, just as egregious and game-ruining as intentional feeding.

They need the data set though to make an informed opinion of his power level
