Why does riot doc full IP when AFK on team?

Honestly,

Riot should know that one of my team mates is AFK, and they should know how long the team mate has been AFK for. Why do I get docked full IP for losing a 4v5??? You should doc the AFKer the full points for the rest of the team (ie: 100 IP)

Because shit happens.

Although I would be in favor of cutting 2-3x as much from them, cutting a full 100 would be a bit much.

Because its a business, and the majority of players have a goal. That goal is winning. The more games you lose due to afkers and Intentional feeders, are more games you play to try and win to counteract your losses. All in all causing more people to play while lowering overall enjoyment of said game. Putting in a proper system to counteract losses is not cost effective to a business.
