Will Ekko AP Assassin dominate the meta ever again? (Response to Tri-force)

With the popularity of the tri-force build being played by the pros and the lcs. It sorta bothers me that in the past of seeing Ekko who's suppose to be an AP assassin or a AP bruiser was being built as a full tank and now a sort of AD bruiser just feels wrong when you could just play a better champion who scales with AD. I know you can build whatever you want on champions but from a design point isn't this kinda wrong as his primary source of damage should be AP or being played like an actual assassin. It bothers mostly because people who are playing AP had to deal with nerfs and soon he may get more nerfs. Luckily they nerfed the base damage and just buffed the ratios so building more AP scales really high in damage later. What are your thoughts on Ekko now? I love EKko being build AP assassin personally. I do build him AP bruiser sometimes.
