Darius is too chase heavy
My friend Zephyr and I were in a game, controlling Morgana
and Rek'sai
, respectively. During the match, Darius
very quickly became a threatening and dangerous target because of his insane tanky ability, his ability to stick to targets, and his passive damage output. We discovered soon, when Rek'sai (Zephyr) was being chased by her ditto and Darius at the same time, that Darius can actually stick to targets better than Rek, who is designed specifically around that mechanic. Even though I did get a pentakill that match (which made me almost cream my shorts because I was so excited), it was still an irritating loss. We didn't lose to an enemy team, we lost to Darius, and that made the whole match, even my penta, seem kind of lame and disappointing.
In the link you'll see that he didn't really build resistance or much health, but he was still very difficult to kill unless I was there with a snare and my shield (both of which were needed to keep him off of a target). His grab range is a little high, and the passive damage output makes him really difficult to lane against, even for tanky champions like Garen
. I understand the need and the want for Darius and his skill set, but I really don't think he should be able to put out so much damage while also being hard to do damage to, and hard to get away from. My suggestion would be to limit the range of his snag, and to reduce his ability to mark people and just let his passive kill them, if not remove such a mechanic entirely.
It's not that I have a problem with an axeman having bleed damage. It's more that I have an issue with bleed damage being his passive, doing a LOT of damage, and then being able to nuke you with his ult unless you have an especially good escape, usually costing flash in the process. Even if his passive is the only thing doing damage to you, it still does a lot of damage when it's fully stacked, and often times kills his target, even if they manage to escape the fight. The fact that Darius can peg multiple targets with bleed damage at once, and then follow up with an unruly amount of true damage nuke from his ult makes him an extremely dangerous opponent, even when he doesn't build damage.
In summary, while I do like Darius, I do not agree with his ability to stick to a target, even a target designed for mobility, and then execute them with little to no contest. I would like Darius, and his role on the Field of Justice, to be evaluated and his numbers to be balanced out so that he actually has to pick a role and stick to it.
