Hardstuck in gold 4

sushiMainichi··1 votes·1,724 views

I've been hard stuck in gold 4 for about 2 months now and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I've watched countless of guides, I'm an Ahri one trick so my pool isn't very big, I don't play when I'm tilted, I dodge, etc. No matter what I do I simply CANNOT get out of gold. I really want to improve, but I really don't know what it is I'm doing wrong. Is there anyone who would be willing to take the time and give me any advice?

Contrary to what others might say one-tricking is THE BEST idea if you want to climb and improve. I also suggest you stop dodging as especially in low elo literally every game is winable if you personally can play good enough, dodging for you is basically you giving away a potential win without even trying (however if someone locks in ADC Nunu with Ghost/Clarity of course still dodge, that's just wasted time). Anyways, from looking at your match history a few things come to mind (basically 100% guesswork, could be totally wrong).

  1. Your KDA seems pretty good so I guess you know your champion's limits quite well already and are pretty decent with your decision making during combat.
  2. Your CS numbers seem to be a bit low which for Ahri especially is quite bad as Ahri has the power to outpush almost all lanes, so either you're getting pushed in on purpose leaving your enemy a lot of space to do basically whatever, or you're hyper focused on trading during lane and are trying to win the lane through kills each time, or you're just bad at CSing.

From this I'd say your 2 main weaknesses are macro and CSing, so what I would recommend you try until you get it right is pushing in the enemy while getting all the CS and not dying to ganks, and then go roaming to the sidelanes/jungle which is what I guess your big thing you basically never do. This does require a ton of map awareness and good knowledge of the game or else you might just waste your time trying to gank an ungankable lane. However roaming this way doesn't need to result in a kill as your enemy is pushed under turret anyways and thus unable to capitalize off of you missing. Just walking into the enemy jungle placing a ward is a decent roam because it applys pressure and gives your team deep vision, aka helping your team in 2 ways at the same time. However since you're still in low elo players basically don't respect roaming, not even a little, so getting a ton of kills through roaming will be a very likely outcome.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my match history and give me quality advice. My CS is abysmal because in lane I'm constantly getting my lane opponent as low as possible, rather than poking or trading. Which now I'm realizing I back too much because of this which is also losing me cs, roam potential, and leads. You're also right about the roaming- I rarely ever do it because of my attitude and thinking it won't help, but if I'm going to think like that then I might as well not play Ahri if I'm not going to roam. I never thought of roaming to be a little more than just trying to get kills, so now I can keep that in mind. Thank you again for your help. I wasn't aware of this before, so now that I know I'll be able to focus on these flaws in my next game.

No problem, just keep in mind that it could be total bollocks as doing this only from looking at a match history is pretty hard. You can probably find a lot of flaws in your gameplay from watching your own replays and always asking yourself "why am I doing this" and "could I be doing something better".

cs is the number one source of gold, not saying that kills are ignorable. when watching any high end player you see fantastic farm numbers at the end of the match. there are a few things that i think are easy steps to work towards. make your goal 75 cs per 10 minutes starting at 4th wave. the second most important thing is that in the first 3 waves you can get by with only 3 minions per wave and the cannon minion in the third wave, as you can easily make up for these beginning waves with abilities later. for every 11 minions you have claimed one kill. for every time you die you miss 5-6 minions and they get 11 additional minions on top of that 300g from you. its better to farm than go for risky kills.

Stop one-tricking. Play a varied pool based on what your team actually needs.

Thank you for the reply, but one tricking has been one of the best things I've done and I think I'd actually lose a lot more if I didn't :/

You think that, but the value of having just one other champion is too much to pass up.

You'd lose more at first, but the ability to play other picks gives you a deeper understanding of the lane that you need to continue climbing.

And, as Kitsune said, Ahri can often suck into tanks (Unless they're MR-heavy and HP-light tanks, I suppose). Picking up Morg mid, a champion fairly strong against tanks due to her E, Q, and ability to use Liandry's, can be immensely helpful.

You don't need a huge pool of champions, but the best advice I can actually give you is to play a few champions.

That's a very fair point. I do have other champs, so I honestly need to give up Ahri here and there, so having 3-4 isn't too bad, I just can't play every champ depending on what my team needs. I'll definitely try to mix it up a little more. Thank you again!

have roughly 2 champs that fit your main playstyle, and then 2 that fit different needs. even better if you can add a champ that can build differently when needed.

One tricking Ahri is not a good idea , like the other comment said , Play other champions too

I appreciate the reply, but one tricking has gotten me very far. I change up her runes and items based on my comp, so I'm always adjusting to my team's needs in some way even while one tricking.

And that's not enough , there are champions that can't fit in every comp . for example Ahri sucks against Tanks , so you can't always just pick her Not to forget that there are times where she is banned or even picked , so you need at least 1 more champion , we are talking about Ahri here , not something like Yasuo.

Alright, I'll definitely give that a try. I'll post an update a bit later.
