Is the ranking system this messed up?

I just resently got in to play a lot of ranked games where otherwise i only play normals with my friends. I have come across an awefull cycle that doesnt let me rank up. A friend in Diamond told me this and i think its true from own experience.

So if I win a lot of ranked games in a row the system will think that I can carry so it eventually puts me with players that lose a lot in a row resently. I got to silver 5 this season after my placements becaus i qued with some friends not knowing we played ranked and also i didnt play that well, but what ever. I started to rank up winning almost every game and got to silver 3 playing alone but somewhere in silver 3 i hit a roof and started to rank down again. I got good stats but kept beeing qued with really week minded people that just called eachother noobs and feeders after first teamfight and basically gave up, i did bad some games to ofcorse. I ranked back down to silver 5 and kept having a streak of win/loss/win/loss/win/loss untill I hit anonther roof of actually getting good teammates again. I carried and got carried again up to silver 4 and then the sme thing happened where i couldnt get any further even though i got 12/3 kd and really tried to encurage the team but the mentality was so extreemly different from thoes that i played with when i ranked up.

Have anyone had the same anoying cycle? I hope that its only me beeing bad and should "GiT Good" to get back to gold. But if this is true then I really understand all people raging about bad teammates and dont want to play ranked outside of 5 man team ever again. Why cant you get qued with people with same mmr regardless of loosing or wining streak?

Seen it happen, but I think there's a more valid explanation than:

So if I win a lot of ranked games in a row the system will think that I can carry so it eventually puts me with players that lose a lot in a row resently.

The game does not, and never has, intentionally placed you with players on losing streaks because you're on a winning streak. That's nonsense.

More realistically, I'd guess you're running into a very awkward place to be, as far as MMR, and at a very awkward time to be there (the end of the season is horrible for trying to climb). Your streak probably raised your MMR to be closer to that of where players new to ranked start out. Even if somebody played ranked in the past but they're just now starting placements in a rush for gold, there's a decent chance they're right smack in this middle MMR range.

To make it worse, you're probably right where a bulk of players are in MMR (assumed based on your climbing to S3). There's such a large pool there, that it's hard to tell what you're going to get. You might wind up with a team full of players deserving of S3 ranking, against a team full of people who are on a fast path up the rankings, and should really be gold or even plat, but they haven't played enough games to get there yet.

On top of all that, it's also possible that you spiked your MMR a little bit above what your true ability really is, so now you're getting outmatched, at least until you drop back closer to your true MMR.

Thank you! I guess I have to embrase my silver rank and retry next season. Sometimes you have this feeling that the system works against you you know. The most anoying thing is to constantly win and climb fast up 3 divitions and then constantly lose and climb down fast 3 divitions and the repeet the cycle, instead of going up and down between 2 divitions untill you eventually get better. Think im gonna take a break from ranked untill a month after next season.

you can only achieve your true rank after 300~400 games played, it literally cant think to place you at your MMR because the Lp system is just stupid.

the LP system was put in place to prevent people from crying how they went from gold 5 to silver 4 overnight after only 8 losses in a row, and now the people they are grouped with are visibly worse than what they were just in. it left people feeling awful and not wanting to play ranked anymore.

it also simultaneously gave people "big rewards" whenever they moved up in rank.
