How do you deal with Jax

I have been seeing this in a number of my games. Jax gets most of his build and starts just stomping. Do you need to try and close out the game quickly or is there a way to counter him in the late game?

You threat the shopkeeper of their base to not let him buy item 3124

Jax, like pretty much all of the melee carries (Yi, Gangplank, Fiora, Wukong sort-of, some others I'm probably forgetting), is inherently unfair compared to other carries to balance out needing to go melee. They're all pretty much dealt with the same way, though. They're relatively squishy or require situational usage of their abilities (IE, Jax and Yi's ult, GP's oranges, Fiora's parry) to survive (or are Wukong), so try to bait them out and then focus fire and CC-lock their ass.

You don't. He's the champ.

How to deal with Jax? It's simple. Ban him. You're welcome.

Ban or counterpick him. If you don't hardcounter him it's just inevitable that once he gets rageblade he can duel anyone in the game.

Kiting and crowd control work well. Most jax players will run Fervor and take item 3124 which are both very strong if you sit there and let him hit you. Run away so his stacks fall off and then re-engage. Don't fight him near minions since he can keep his stacks up via the wave. Items and champions that make him attack slower or miss auto attacks are good for this too item 3110 item 3143Malphite Teemo .

His engage is pretty telegraphed too. So if you have something like a Janna Alistar , it's pretty easy to see him start his counterstrike and bop him back when he tries to jump in.

Don't let him split push. Get someone that can 1v1 him, or collapse on him as a team.

group up, he doesn't want to be in the middle of teamfighting cc gangbang

DREADN0UGHT12/7/2015, 7:23:34 PM3 votes

Mu personal experience is that u can still kyte him and pull out fine.

As with any fed champ: don't try to 1v1. And respect his Q range.

Let me help you out here, from someone with quite a bit of experience on Jax.

  • Jax has a hard time with CC, and can get easily locked up now that merc's have been nerfed. Play someone with CC.
  • Lane bullies work wonders on him. A bruiser like Darius or Garen can take his hits and still keep poking him down.
  • His E has a 16 second cooldown, and I've yet to see a Jax player maxing that first for the reduced cooldown. Once his E is down, go on the offensive.
  • Remember that Jax has mixed damage. Build both armor and magic resist to deal with him.
  • Randuin's Omen and Frozen Heart are great for dealing with Jax because of the armor and attack speed reduction.
  • Jax will absolutely destroy a squishy champion once he gets a Sheen and Phage. I advise against pulling out the glass cannons for Jax.
  • Once you get past the laning phase, stay in groups. On many occasions have I jumped into groups of 2-3 champions and died because I can only fight one at a time.

For solo laning, I recommend a champion that has good CC, tankiness, and damage throughout the early to mid game. For late game, I recommend sticking in groups and locking him down once Jax jumps in.

Thanks for all the advice folks.

You can pick somebody that can bully him early on and try to win from there (Renekton bar) You can pick somebody that scales up like Jax, which is still risky since it boils down to who is more fed/farmed (Mundo does well for this)

Or you can just catch Jax out when he inevitably decides to splitpush, and hope the 4 of you can lock him down enough or bait out his Q.

Zéychin12/7/2015, 11:12:57 PM2 votes

You end the game before he "gets most of his build". Jax's damage items, with the exception of Rageblade, are generally quite expensive.

(Also, you fight him before he has 10 stacks of Fervor and 8 stacks of Rageblade passive.)

You play someone like Darius or Renekton against him in lane and dumpster him to the point where you can solo tower dive him.

You play someone like Ryze that can permalock + burst him.

You play someone with very strong peel to support or jungle.

You play someone like Zed or LeBlanc and are too slippery for him to fight you.

You play an ADC with disengage/escape like Vayne or Tristana.

and the #1 shutdown for Jax right now is Quinn. Keep him blinded and he can't do anything useful and he won't know what is going on.

Dirty Roleplayer12/7/2015, 11:27:00 PM2 votes

play vlad against him

Sassmast3r12/8/2015, 2:41:54 AM2 votes

I would recommend a heavy poke champion, such as Lulu or Karma top lane. Build them slightly tanky but also with some damage mixed in. Make it an absolute hell for him to try to farm early game and hope the rest of your lanes do alright. Maybe bring TP to help them push since you know that eventually he becomes virtually impossible to kill. Maybe you can even win against him early on and get a few kills on him! Or piss him off to the point of DCing... ;)

You cry softly in the corner until the game ends, or you ff.

Sythriel Draken12/8/2015, 8:28:54 AM2 votes

Malphite and rush frozen heart.. between your E and the frozen heart, even a rageblade jax can't keep up with your attack speed debuffs.

QTBTB12/8/2015, 10:09:51 AM2 votes

Just run when he starts spinning his stick or ults up, if you can dodge is stun, and disengage until all his stuff is done he's pretty killable. Same thing with fizz bounce, or tyrndamare ult.

burritomomo12/8/2015, 9:23:15 PM1 votes

step 1: quite game step 2: uninstall item 3070

Baunjo12/8/2015, 9:24:14 PM1 votes

If you are playing against a jungle Jax play a champion that has early game gank pressure or great dueling to try and make up for his lategame. Jax's early game is really bad also, There is a long list of champions you can pick to force jax out of lane early game.

Sire Hippington12/8/2015, 4:15:10 PM1 votes

group as 5 and teamfight, especially at midgame when he only has rageblade and an other item. He's a meele, and he's fairly squishy due to rushing Rageblade. In midgame teamfights, it's easy to focus him down, especially with some cc. Lategame, he can usually get tanky enough to be strong in teamfights, however, beeing the melee he is, you can peel vs him, though that depends on your setup. If you have an alistar peeling for your adc, jax can't do shit...

only problem is then you can't apply enough pressure to force teamfights, cause then he will splitpush, and unless you have a fiora, tha means you have to gangbang him all they way or loose your base as he will 1v1 about anyone with ease.

Fredart12/8/2015, 5:28:13 PM1 votes

Flash after he tries to stun then wail on him some more, also stop attacking while hes chargn that stun.

Rozair12/8/2015, 5:36:52 PM1 votes

I picked gank plank vs him and just sat there and didn't give him any kills. He constantly attacked me under my tower and fed the Shit out of me. He then decided to roam and my team couldn't handle him at all. He then split pushed all game on bot lane and they won. I don't get it. Why does riot allow Shit like this.

Betoldia Prime12/7/2015, 7:55:40 PM1 votes

Thornmail is always good :)

For how quick the community deems the new games to be, he sure managed to make a comeback in almost all of the games I've played in and seen since the season started with the Rageblade. As for actual tips, don't be fooled by his role. Build some magic resistance as well as armor, it will help you incredibly well. QSS is perfect if you aren't too squishy and get blown up just from his WQ.

ModWulf Helhammer12/7/2015, 7:07:00 PM1 votes

Only thing I have found so far is don't feed him, and if he get's fed, collapse with as much CC and damage as you can.

FloorBoards12/8/2015, 9:21:25 PM1 votes

I've been playing him a lot, I've noticed Fiddle and Ahri good against him, Jax struggles against fiddle as he struggles to get ontop of him, fiddles fear and silence control jax well, Ahri is also good at staying away from him while doing large DMG, champs similar to them should be good.
