Breaks from ranked when losing are a must. Tilt is real even if you don't really feel it. In the end ranked is all about playing a lot of games and improving over those games. If you improve you will rank up. If not, then you will stay where you are or go lower if your current rank is higher than your actual skill (mmr).
Tilt however throws off your skill and mmr since you are not playing your best. This season I made a rule for myself that I would stop playing ranked or take a good long break if I lost 2 games in a row the same day. I have pretty much stuck to that and ranked back up from silver 5 to gold 5 fairly quickly (after season 6 rank reset). In the past I would just keep playing games all day even if I was losing and would sometimes go on 9-10 game losing streaks. This would drop me 2 divisions and really killed my spirit. Now if I am losing and I stop playing awhile I don't go on as long of losing streaks so I don't have to make up as much ground when trying to rank up.
