I feel like the game is in a great spot as far as toplaners are concerned.
- No overwhelming tank meta
- 1v1 fights happen way more often
- ranged matchups are actually rarer than I've expected
- teleport isn't a necessity
- roaming for dragons as a toplaner is a real thing and feels amazing when it works well.
- Snowballing makes you feel impactful but doesn't mean an autowin/loss.
- toplane in general is in a great spot right now. So much diversity with picks. So much works and doesn't just lose it for your team.
I don't understand why toplaners are whining still, seems like we've somehow been brought back into the game.
It's not what season 3 top was, but it's fucking eons above what it's been recently. I still get autoloss/win games but they feel rarer than before (perhaps my sample size isn't big enough yet.) Great job Riot, it almost feels like you've gotten off your ass at least once.
As far as criticism goes. Dragons are definitely too damn important, they should definitely be worth more than rift herald, but in the state it is now its meta to afk prioritize dragons.
Oh and matchmaking seems fucking weird. It seems like there is a lot more games that are setting a clear and obvious difference in teams from the get-go.
