How does Promos work now

Been absent for quite awhile. Last i knew last season i think i stopped at Silver 4 when Silver 5 was still a think. Few days back i finished up my Solo ranked games and was placed Bronze 2. Just today i went from Bronze 1 to Silver 4 with no promos.

JW as i was looking through the ranked tab as others had still 5 game promotional series. And just skipped all of that.

If your mmr is sufficiently higher than your rank you can skip through things like promos and even some divisions. If you continue your winstreak up to silver 3 promos, it's possible that you'd have to do promos but will skip to s2. It's just a nice way to clean up ranks when people's mmr is uncertain but they're performing well.
