Gnar. Broken or Totally broken top lane? [Discussion]

Hear me out. I feel that Gnar is the one currently setting the meta in the top lane. The entire lane is being determined by which team gets to use Gnar currently. Gnar, in his mini form, is incredible mobile (more so than any other champion in top), with powerful harassment that can shred 25-30% health in a single three or four hit combo, even against heavier tank characters. With his current kit any half decent Gnar player can easily avoid all but the best ganks. And when Gnar changes you have a bruiser that fights harder than anyone with enough stuns, slows, and knock arounds to ruin anyone's day.

I've played several matches against Gnar in top and lost top lane every time. I've also noticed that Gnar seems to be in nearly every game I play lateley, in top. The Meta doesn't seem to balanced at the moment around who can best sustain, but rather who can best counter Gnar.

Just my opinion, but I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks.

I have to disagree. Gnar is very good at bullying melee matchups, and can out CC a ranged matchup, but is not the end all be all for top lane right now.

Gnar is a complimentary champion. If you have a poke team, he fits right in. If you have an team designed to team fight, he fits right in. He doesn't make the team, he can simply adapt to fit what his team needs.

However even though he has great mobility he needs his team. My personal picks against him are Nasus and Master Yi, as both of them can catch and kill Gnar 1v1, and bring stronger things to their team. As Nasus start out by slowing Gnar right before his transformation into mini Gnar, and just Q him. As Master Yi just ult in and kill him before he has a chance to transform into Mega Gnar. Both of these champions can push a small lead to the point where they can fight Gnar in either form while the laning phase is still going.

About the only time Gnar becomes broken is if your team is weak to kiting, which is a very different issue unrelated to the strength of Gnar.

The phenomena you're observing is traditionally referred to as 'hype,' and is not necessarily an indication of a champion being poorly balanced.
