Sona is a support, right?

Ok, so a good majority of the time when i see a sona in my games they usually build ap. Sometimes they build a sight stone a lot of the times they don't. My question is why is she allowed to do that much damage with her Q auto combo with her passive up if she is labeled as a support. I understand that building ap items will increase her damage, but again she is a support. She shouldn't have scaling that is high enough for her to chunk me to half my hp just by walking outside of my spell range and pressing Q then auto attack me when i have close to 3,000 hp. She is honestly the only champion that is labeled a support on its champion page that does damage like that, and it isn't even a skill shot so there is no counter play to it. Am I just being ridiculous or am I being reasonable?

Sona has always been able to do that. In fact she's had her q damaged nerfed since she became flavor of the month. Besides her ult, it's the only part of her kit besides her passive (power chord) that does damage to the enemy.

It is less common, but she's also played mid, and even rarer top.

Sona is a pain, but she's squishy. She's vulnerable once you or your team gets in close. Looks like you've been playing a lot of tank supports. Those have a harder time against her. You'd do better with ap supports like Zyra, Karma, or even Nami. The first two zone her incredibly well, and Nami can keep up on Sona's poke damage and cc her.

She is. Death is a very good CC.

Sona is a mage which is a character type support is a role position you play. magic resist needs to be buffed along with armor and tanks need more magic resist options. tank items dont complement each other while every other class has their items weaved together to make just builds without even having champions yet op

your being ridiculous, she has a lot of counter play and will let her team down without a item 3174 her q empowers her auto so if she happens to get a item 3100 she can chunk squishes easily. I recommend picking up any item that gives grievous wounds and something with mr. her counters are anyone with a good gap closer. your welcome

She is a support mage, and already been hit by the nerf bat enough. She is hella squishy, so if she is doing that much damage to you she is super fed.

As a Sona main against tank champs I build a Liandry's Torment, and I will drop a slow to burn you for 12% of your HP. Your issue is not taking advantage of the CD time of her q, and her power chord. Once she blows down your HP bar she isn't able to do anything until her q is back up.

The other thing is to shut her down early game. Punish her early or else if she gets fed early, late game is going to lead to a bad time with a fearless Sona spamming her skills all over your team with near unlimited mana. Again I main Sona and notice that people who try their hardest to punish me as much as they can early game keep me from snowballing late game. Riot already said she is a late game champ, so that is what you need to know.
