Mastery Scores And Its Flaws And How It Could Be Improved
We've all had that feeling of going 11/2/15 and only getting an A and not the S you think you deserved. It has happened to us multiple times. Too many times to the point that I decided to create a discussion about it. I believe that the mastery score system is flawed making it too hard for people to get the mastery level 6 or 7 they wanted.
There are many flaws with the system but the main one is the creep score. Even though you may have been fed and you carried your team, the amount of cs may lower your mastery score at the end of the game if you haven't gotten any creep score. But it shouldn't be that way. The way it should evaluating your mastery score is by the amount of gold you racked up in total. This makes the most sense because in most occasions when someone is fed they may be roaming and helping the team instead of csing. For example (actually happened), if I was a fed Corki with low cs because I was helping my team, I shouldn't be met with a B at the post game screen. It's perfect for junglers because jungles usually get less creep score than an average laner because they get more gold with jungle monsters. It could also work with supports and their gold income items but the system doesn't really take in account their cs because they don't get any.
Another flaw is the role that you are playing. Sometimes I like to play Shen or Poppy support but Riot doesn't recognize them as traditional supports so having a perfect KDA won't matter at all because I wouldn't have any cs. The system should recognize the players role and evaluate them on that role. This could easily be done with draft pick, the summoners chosen summoner spells, and what lane they start in.
The last flaw is the KDA. Everyone has gotten a perfect KDA but has gotten a B all because of their cs. The KDA should be put more towards your mastery score at the end of a game rather than your cs. This is where the amount of gold racked up at the end of a game comes in again. If you're fed and helping your team by roaming then a majority of your gold would usually be from kills and not from cs.
http://imgur.com/gallery/ztGst This game that I played recently shows the a few flaws with the system. I got an A and went 11/2/15. I think that it was worthy of getting at least an S-. My CS brought it down but I was a jungler so I believe it should be evaluated differently.
In conclusion, the mastery score system needs to be reworked. There have already been many complaints about it and fixing could really show the difference between a boosted and an actual good play. Please leave any feedback or comments. Thank you! -Aech Watts
