The Feeder Bible and How to Repent of Your Sins in Ranked
I dreamed a dream of ranked queue where players wanted to win games. After a few years I realize that the dream is dead, and we killed it. Most low elo players have NO mentality for winning a game of league of legends. Every time I climb through silver and gold I am amazed at a few habits players have that make the game much more difficult. Here is a list of the enormous correctable problems in ranked queue. Most of it boils down to preparing for ranked and doing small things that increase your chances of winning.
Lag: This one is difficult. Some players actually lag. Sometimes it's ego lag. What I wonder is how many people are having repeated lag issues but still jumping into ranked q. Do you think you're gonna climb to diamond on consistent lag? Nah, bro. Fix your internet then jump into ranked q. If you're not sure do a speed test before you start your game and check your wireless router.
**"1v1 me bro": **This used to be worse, but you have top laner who shoves with no vision, dies to jungler then all chats "1v1 me bro!"" Also honorable mention to "no ganks gg." If you want ganks stick a pink ward in a brush.
**"If I had the right runes.... youd be dead: ** Uhm.... ok, so good players check runes and masteries and don't use it as a crutch for poor play. LIkely good players don't need them nearly as much as you but if that's the only reason you're feeding maybe you can switch to runescape.
I'm rusty: No excuse. Don't jump into ranked after your 3 month hiatus. In fact players underestimate how valuable ARAM is for just developing some basic skills and outplay abilities. Bad players go on ranked binges and never try to improve their game. Also don't play a champ that is new to you in ranked unless you get a paycheck to play LoL. Use ARAM and normals to practice. Use ranked to test.
Feeding lane 5 kills within 5 minutes: We didn't force you to pick tryndamere or riven. Taking that fiora and feeding 3 kills in 2 minutes was most likely your jungler's fault anyway. I'm sure that level 2 tower dive was totally warranted and it was just bad luck that you fed your lane early. While you knew shoving with wards is not ideal, your godliness to take on 2 players at once probably justified that. This makes you harder to carry for players that play well in lane and take small advantages.
Showing up to lane 1 minute late: So just as I was writing this I had one of these. ADC shows up at 3 minutes. Why are you going to spend 40 minutes playing a game where you just gave up a solid advantage in the first 3 minutes? In normals that would be questionable, but in ranked? Come on bro...
**Counterpicking yourself then feeding: ** Dw bro, i got this. Vayne into caitlin? i'm pretty much the doublelift of silver so i'll crush her with my mechanics! Yeah, so the number of times I see people take their comfort pick into a counterpick is sad. It usually goes badly. I actually have a duo buddy that can do this and we still crush our lanes pretty hard in silver and gold. Having said that it usually doesn't go that way and you're really not that good. Diversify your champ pool and try to use counterpicks to your advantage instead of the other way around.
Needless Risk: This is not quite as bad but it's irritating to me. When my duo buddy and I crush bot lane so hard we get camped by the jungler, then we start killing the jungler. After we get our 3 kills in our 2v3, "ENEMY DOUBLE KILL"in the top lane to like a jax or something. I never get to see how because I was fighting but I'm pretty sure it's trying to take a risky play. Just understand that if you have somebody just crushing a game and a huge advantage there is utterly no excuse for feeding. Jax didn't tower dive 2 people top, and if he did it's time to fire up ARAM and normal q until you can play that matchup.
Well there are more things for sure but I like this list because it seems like stuff that you have control over. If you fix these things it won't mean you're going to become challenger or professional, but these are all things that will maximize your potential as a player. I used to assume everyone would avoid this kind of stuff because you actually wanted to win games but I see it all the time. If you aren't getting rid of all this stuff holding you back you're really wasting your time. Having said all of this, be really nice to your teammates and buy pink wards and you'll crush on the rift.
Yours truly,
