My current Soraka Bot Lane Support Build

Cmdr Fox··3 votes·836 views

Greeting fellow Summoners. I am CmdrFox, Often I find myself volunteering for Bot Lane Support with Soraka as my "Go to Girl" I start off early game with a coin item so my Carry can farm while I bully my lane. This is the build I am currently aiming for as I am only Lvl 8 and thus I do not have a full mastery/rune sheet yet.. I selected these item based on my play style which is at current a "Starcall, Equinox , Poke + Starcall & fallback behind carry" style to maintain my health and mana while doing enough poke damage in my lane. I like to keep my Carry's health in check, I don't go down the full healer support build because I usually sync my Silence/root and attack with my Carry which I find works better when I have more AP allowing us to push our lane. I hope to adopt a much more aggressive support role in the future when I reach lvl 30 but, right now I'm low level and the people I'm paired with keep dying to towers or stupid suicides stunts which means I have to become like a support Carry for my lane early game. If you can help me improve my build planning I would be very grateful, I really enjoy this game and cant wait to play a more competitive level with People. (Not the angry people thou.. They don't seem to get along with anyone)

[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

when the best items for her would be item 3107 with a 58.05% win rate and picked in 64% of her games item 3504 with a 60.04% win rate and picked in 61.31% of her games item 2302 with a 55.62% win rate and picked in 44.42% of games item 3190 with a 59.35% win rate and picked in 23.87% of games item 3158 with a 55.16% win rate and picked in 53.21% of games

This is basically optimal. Just build the Eye of the Oasis>Ionian Boots>Censer>Locket>Redemption If your team can't optimize the drain from censer, either don't buy it, or replace it with a mikaels or warmogs

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

hmm do you have an adc in game ?

then censer is worth... you heal heal is stronger, it gives you AP and cdr, and movement speed

R181 votes

This guy isn't level 30 yet, so he won't have an ACTUAL adc every game.

Edit: Ziggs

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

well... jsut cuz its posted from a low level account dont mean its the account he plays on alot of people post from lower lvl accounts to hide their true accounts

R181 votes

You should probably check his OP.GG X(

He also wouldnt be building his so attack speed hybrid build if he was level 30 on his main.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Yeah I experimented with that because I believed if I drop damaged faster along with my carry Id get better results... it works early game but by the time I have build the items everyone else is hear finished their build and I become VERY vulnerable...

Cmdr Fox1 votes

I have only played Player vs Bots rounds as its would not let me go against people at my current level, think I only recently unlocked the ability to play against real people... but i kinda don't have the confidence to do that yet. I still die against bots.. which people in chat seem to find hilarious... cos apparently Bots are supposed to be easy but I still find them a pain.

if you follow my advice on how to play her how to build her you will learn the champ and the game better from the point of view of a passive support who is a healer

you are a new player i get that.. im not putting you down. trying to provided you with knowledge to improve as a player so you have more success and more fun with the game. cuz losing isnt fun.

im all for trying shit out, theory crafting with builds and runes and play styles but coming from someone who clearly has years and thousands of games of experience over you... who mains support im just trying to provide you with knowledge to help.

try your best improve and learn every time you play. make sure you have fun and enjoy the game. there are tons of resources at your disposal from data, items, builds, etc based around higher levels of play that you can take from and learn.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

YOSH!!

Thank you for your advice. It makes sense.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Thanks for that I also used these when I started out.

"So basically you aren't playing support" Depends on your definition of the term "Support" I guess... My play style is to help my Carry farm while pushing the lane forward and keeping the enemy health low so they are constantly forced back to tower thus loosing them farm. If I just go with heal items, yes I can keep my carry health safe but.. I don't have the AP level to control the lane which is how I support my Carry early/mid game so he can buy and finish of the game when he's built.
I know people use your build a lot but I find it quite passive and I like to push with my Carry more aggressively which mean using Items that give me a little more poke.
I'm still low level and still inexperience when it comes to playing with higher leveled people but, if everyone expects Support to follow one build it's not hard to devise a counter build for it. So trying something different that is to also based on my style of play might give me an edge even if it's a little one.

Thanks for the reply thou, I have those items on my shop list for when I'm against champions I'm not to familiar with and want to play a safer Support method.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

hey to each there own. you had no form of a SS in your build at all

wanting to build AP on a healer to "CARRY" when you need to be back line out of the fire so you can do your job you build in no way to enhance your team to allow them to do what their champ needs to do.

i think your build path and items and idea of playing raka as a damage mage would result in limited success . there are reasons why those items are as popular and have the win rates they do on this champ they are the best for her and give her the best tools to help her team win

feel free to play her as you like , im not discouraging you just wanted you to be aware of what is best for her if you wanting to win

Cmdr Fox1 votes

No you actually make a fair point, I do seem to just focus on my carry and forget there are other players on my team. (mainly cos at my current lvl they arn't experience themselves) I guess it's useful early game while you have the bullying advantage but I do notice if the game goes on for too long my damage it pointless and I end up replacing everything for healing items. I guess having the experience to be able to judge if a games momentum is in you teams favor resulting in a quick game or its a struggle resulting in a long game where everyone has all their items, would influence whether i'm going to keep this build or go with the healing item to support the team battles.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

also the best mastery path for raka is 0-18-12

http://current.lolalytics.com/champion/Soraka/

the data provided is based on stats from games from plat rank and higher

feel free to look at it and take what you wish from it

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

So you are basically going for the hyper aggro Raka playstyle.

First off I would suggest saving E for when you are about to go in and you need to make sure they cannot fight back. Do not use E to poke. The cooldown is too high to waste it like that.

Save E for escape as well. A well placed silence can stop a ganker in his tracks so you and your adc can escape.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Yeah defo, I like the idea of a support being able to push the lane early/mid to allow the Carry to farm in peace. I normally can tell when my carry is ready to attack and that's when I drop my E cos even thou it's a few second you can do a lot of damage in that time and if it works out you also get the kill. I mostly Q and auto the guys till their health is about half them drop an E on them.

I also have a lot of slows thanks to my Q when it hit and when I build my Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

As support I normally put myself in front of my carry as I don't mind if I die as long as he get back to tower safe.. not sure if thats a good mindset but it feels like thats what a support should do till his Carry is ready.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Well, let me be the first to tell you that pushing early-mid isn't always the best thing to do.

If the enemy adc is something like alistar or Leona, someone with boat loads of CC, then you are better off letting your adc farm under tower. Otherwise the enemy can easily set up ganks.

Additionally, I recommend dropping Rylais. The slow lasts for only a second and the slow on your Q lasts longer. Also slows don't stack so you won't be doing super slows.

Replace the rylais with redemption.

Redemption costs less, gives you super heals, and lets you call down a big aoe heal. Much more useful on Raka than Rylais.

GLP and Liandries can be replaced with Warmogs and Ardent Censor if your adc is very attack oriented, or something likr Locket for extra shields. The locket and Warmogs will give you the bulk I believe you seek, and you will be more useful.

Throw out Shiv. Get a sightstone and it's upgrades.

Better get used to warding now if you're going to be a good support. Think of it as setting up security cameras around the area. So you know if the enemy jungler is coming to gank so you can warn your adc to back off.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Oh dear god... I've never bought a ward ever, other then the free one you get at the beginning which I normally drop in the bush river... OK I'll watch some video on good warding techniques for support. Yeah i have a healer support build for when im against champions I don't like. like Morgana or Lux and i normally adopt a safe backrow support style for them.. but against champions i can control I like to push as much as I can.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

if you plan on playing support you should average 25 wards a game for a typical game length

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

yea thats old ... thats from 2 seasons ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsjPxpdu5eM this is more current

Cmdr Fox1 votes

[slayer-jinx-catface]

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

the 1st one is just for bot lane/dragon warding as a support

the 2nd video is more indepth

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Apparently i'm warding all over the place and not just bot lane bushes

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

well thats of all players all roles at different points in game for vision and map control

as a support with SS /trinket and control ward you can only have 3 wards and 1 control ward on the map at a time...

most any single player can place is 3 vision wards and 1 control ward at a time

so as you learn the game and learn about roations, objective control , map control , different roles/lanes etc this will be more applied. for starting off as a support the 1st video i linked is the basics of warding for your lane

i dont know your age so i dont know if this will make sense...

league is a easy game to learn a hard game to master

similar to chess and texas hold em ( poker)

1st you learn the pieces and structure of the game and how the move your pieces then as you gain skill/knowledge you learn more in depth play of the game.. you learn how to set up moves 5-8 -10 moves ahead predictions of how someone is going to counter play a move you make or dont make etc

R181 votes

R u trolling or not. I CANT TELL

Cmdr Fox1 votes

No afraid not... I thought It was a good build for my style but it seems I was wrong and not building like a team player...

R181 votes

Just play mid if you like damage

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Hopefully when i start playing against Real players it will work out better.

At my level, I am noticing I am always grouped with people who don't watch any LOL videos or generally don't know what they are doing and they stumble into my Mid lane at the very beginning and farm or keep dying to tower .... I try to communicate with them but they never reply... so i figured id just go bot and do my damage there.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Those players you see are most likely bot accounts.

As in, AI players someone programmed to spam games to get the account to 30 as fast as possible.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Oh so if they don't respond its a good chance that its a bot, then I'll just stay in lane and hope the bot realized i'm here and goes to another lane. cool thanx

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

sadly yes... they is an issue where people set up a program and have "bots" play in those games to farm IP / level up

so now that you are lvl 13 you need to venture into pvp blind pick ... or if you have friends create custom games

you are gonna have a bit of a wtf when you go play pvp blind

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Oh, if i'm at a level here I can play real people that would be cool.. thought that happened when you reach lvl 30

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Actually scratch that... I knew that.... its Ranked games you cant do till your level 30.. I forget.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

my advice to you dont dare play rank til you have a least 150 normal wins vs actual players if you do so before hand you are gonna struggle . you dont have to jump into rank just cuz you got to lvl 30 you can still play "normals"

in the NA server there are two versions of normal games , blind pick... which is what you will venture into 1st and draft pick ( which is consider practice mode for ranks) you have to have minimum 20 champs and you get to preselect roles you wish to play ( wont get them always) and it has a champ ban phase , pick phase like you would see and deal with in rank.

get your account to lvl 30 ... use the draft mode once there to practice... then if you feel ready play rank

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Oh yeah.... other champions..... forget about that.......

Ok I guess better unlock other champions while i'm leveling my account. cant play Soraka forever

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

i kind hope you are grasping alot of this cuz its seems alot to take in for a new player starting off.

if need be if you have question etc add me in game feel free to message me

Cmdr Fox1 votes

I got this.... i'l give that Blind mode a go and see how much i can learn....

Eye of Oasis Ionian Boots (Swap for mobility boots if you want to use blue CDR runes. Ionian is better though.) Ardent Censer Redemption Mejai's Soulstealer (build the ring early to get stacks) Deathcap (For those late running games where you need the raw healing power boost.)

Bring Flash and Exaust. (Or Heal if your ADC will swap spells with you.)

Laughs at Danger1 votes

Hey, it seems like you have a decent understanding of the support role, knowing that it's the adc's job to farm minions and yours to damage the enemy laners. You should also learn to ward though. The point of warding is so you can see if the enemy jungler is coming to attack your lane. Since bots don't jungle, you don't have to worry about that yet, but once you start playing vs real people that's something to keep in mind.

As for how to play Soraka, not so much. Soraka is meant to be built with a lot of health items, not damage. If you want to do high damage as a support, then pick a character that does that, like Morgana or Brand, or switch to playing a different lane until you level up a bit and the adcs get better. If you want to keep playing Soraka, focus on hitting enemies with her Q, not her E. Soraka's E makes it so the enemy can't use abilities for a few seconds, so I usually save it for if something goes wrong. Like, if Lux Bot stuns the adc, Lux Bot will probably use another damaging spell on your adc while they are stunned, so you want to use your E then to prevent that from happening. It looks like a lot of people pointed out typical Soraka items, so I think that about covers it.

Cmdr Fox1 votes

Yeah I have not even played a game with a jungler yet.. though I have watched it on YouTube.. I

Yeah I guess i should learn other support champions in case I join a game where they can ban champions. that would be troublesome if i only know a single champ.
