So for a long time I've tried to learn Tristana and Yasuo. And while I watched all the videos and read the guides and matchups, the consensus was that the were weak/underpowered. A post would come up every so often asking for buffs.
Enter 5.17, they become fotm because of lcs and all I see are complaints about how op both of them are.
Did I miss a patch over-buffing them or something?
Yas has always been OP. His kit is too loaded not to be. Tristana has always been OP as well. She fell out of favor after her rework because it took awhile for people to relearn her. The resets on her jumps is the worst part.
Welcome to league .-. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the same thing happened with Kalista, I played her all the time when she was realeased and nobody complained then. But suddenly people started calling her op, despites no patches to her around that time
Champs don't need "buffs" to make them OP. They can be gutted and dumpstered, but if a pro even DARES pick them, they suddenly become flavor of the month and everyone picks them because pros only pick OP champs, right?
Viktor and Urgot are prime examples I can think of. People will laugh at them and call them junk, until someone picks them to fit a certain comp and then suddenly everyone and their grandma is trying to spam them ranked to copy the pros

The armor item nerfs really helped Yasuo, since a lot of his top lane matchups are tanks. Tristana is a hyper-carry, a role which has grown in popularity as tanks and other bruisers become less able to get to that squishy backline. Tristana also knocks down towers unbelievably fast, which was always a useful skill to have.
I complained about Tristana needing nerfs about 40 days ago.
