Varus really needs a re-work

so, ive been playing varus ever since his release. back then he was a great ADC in the bot lane and even in mid. but now with the realease of newer champs like lucian. kalista, he just deosent stand a chance anymore. he the only one that deosent have an escape to get him out ganks or even being pulled in to the enemy, all you can do is sit back and watch him get wreked. now theres a rework of ashe about to be released and i think what was done with her is great. but i really think that varus is in big need of a rework. i think his passive just deosent play a big enough role for em, maybe move his blight stacks to be his passive, and give him a sort of dash or make his rain of arrows an area of effect stun instead of slow. he is my favourite champ but i just cant use him in ranked matches, my friends get mad at me for using him in normals saying i could have picked any other adc.

Lol don't let your friends decide what you play, if you enjoy playing Varus do it. He may not have a kit as forgiving as Kalista's or Lucians but he outdamages both of them. If you know how to position correctly and have a decent support who protects you you are good to go. I wouldn't pick him into engage comps since he has no way to reposition himself if his flash is down but he is by no means a bad pick.

Apart from that I agree with the suggestion to shift the Blight Stacks passive from his W to his passive and maybe the attack speed from the passive to his W so his AS steroid becomes more reliable.

more dashes, no thanks, there is a reason he has hard cc and other MM don't

Personally I wouldn't mind exchanging some of his damage deal for an escape he could kite with imo. I made a post a while back suggesting that he could have a dash on his e hall of arrows before it fires. Or perhaps once his e fires he jumps back in the opposite direction like caitlyn's 90 caliber net. Just make him mobile and take away some damage.

I definitely agree that Varus needs a bigger overhaul than these tiny "Buffs" he's gotten a few patches back. He's the very first champion I ever bought when I first started League a couple years ago. - He can still do pretty good depending on the match up, but a lot of champions nowadays having mobility of some sort, he needs to be shown some love to really remain relevant.

how about give him third damaging ability for w

and move old w to passive and maybe get rid of AS buff entirely

I was writing this out originally disagreeing with you, but the more I wrote, the more I began to agree with you. Varus' kit is just a mess right now. I like playing him, and think he's fun, but he's super weak sauce right now. He's arguably worse than Ashe ATM. Here's an idea for a kit for Varus:

Passive (Living Vengeance): Varus gains magic penetration equal to 100% of his armor penetration (includes % ignores). Q (Piercing Arrow): Halve the leveled damage scaling, and halve the movement speed debuff. Allow it to apply on hit effects to the first enemy it hits, including Blighted Quiver. W (Blighted Quiver): Increase the passive on hit scaling to 10% of total AD (+35% AP). Have the debuff stack 4 times instead of 3, but lower the AP scaling to 1% per 100 AP. Give it an active that increases the attack speed by 20 - 40% depending on level of skills for 5 seocnds. Reset the cooldown and refund the mana cost on champion kill or assist. E (Hail of Arrows): Remove the passive scaling and up the values to 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100% of total AD (+25% AP). Up the slow to 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%. Keep grievous wounds. R (Chain of Corruption): Keep the damage values the same, but allow the ult to instantly proc 4 stacks of Blighted Quiver to all enemies hit. Scale the root 1.5 / 2 / 2.5, and decrease the time it takes to chain to other enemies. Give a radius on hit for clarity.

He does need changes, but I also like where he's at right now too. A bit unlike other marksmen, he is meant to help control a team fight with his long range AoE abilities.

His passive and blight stacks could be switched and then go something like this.

Passive bonus magic damage scales by champion level and a constant rate of 3% of max HP. His Blighted Quiver could be activated for bonus attack speed and magic damage on hit. Could still let him do magic damage on hit as the passive for it.
