Need help improving myself

Darrk··2 votes·213 views

I've finally cracked. I tend to believe I'm not offensively bad, but because of the teams I've been matched with the last few days, I'm beginning to rethink that thought. I'm currently b2,0lp after failing my promos due to some unfortunate misplays. I'm not stupid, and any help, coaching, or assistance won't be lost on me.

It's hard to know what needs improvement without knowing a few things

What is your favored role(s)?

Where do you feel you struggle the most?

What do you wish you could do that you feel you can't do adequately at the moment?

I can play every roll, but I preform better playing top or ADC, personally, I struggle the most with not tilting (Filthy yasuo main mentality) and I, especially being low ranked, feel I can't adequately carry when I most need to. I can carry, and I do carry, but most of the time when that happens my team is hardly negative or doing well. I want to learn how to turn a bad game into a good game, and I've been working out how. The only real issue with turning bad games into good ones is the tendency for a vayne or fizz to be 10/0 and roaming around my wards.

Not tilting is definitely super important. There are games that you'll know in your mind are lost with no chance of comeback, but then keeping a clear head and making good decisions will win it when it seemed hopeless and pointless to try.

Many people misconstrue carrying with getting all of the team's kills and just snowballing out of control to the point of winning the game outright. Often times what it actually is has more to do with ensuring that if you gain a lead, you use it to put your team ahead as a whole. Roam to bot lane, secure a double for that ADC, get the ball rolling down there, coordinate ganks with your jungler in mid, stuff like that. Be a proactive force for good that puts everyone ahead, even if they aren't playing well and you hate their guts for possibly ruining your good game.

Like I said earlier, not tilting goes a long way towards salvaging a rough game, but positive attitude can be even more effective. Don't see a lost teamfight as "gg, surrender at 20". See it as "Oh shit, next time we have to position better, and our focus wasn't on point, I need to work on who I go for next time". Focus on the mistakes YOU made, and try to figure out what the best course of action for not making them again is. That goes for teamfights as well as the rest of the game in general. Did you lose a 1v1? Focus on catching them out with help next time since dueling them is out of the question. Miss smite against dragon and lose it to the enemy team? Think about what can be done to improve your smiting. Focusing on what you can improve over what your team is doing will help you grow as a player.

It won't happen over night, but when you focus on improving yourself instead of hoping you get a good team, you'll naturally climb as your skill level increases
