WHEN WILL AUTOFILL END?

Dear: Riot

Not pissed, mad, but not pissed. So my ranked game last week went this way.

Match 1 auto filled support, got my ass kicked. Match 2 auto filled support, won the game but went 1/12/13 Match 3 auto filled jungle, reported for getting behind and not ganking well Match 4 got my adc role i asked for and won. Match 5 got my adc role again and barely won. Match 6 auto filled and of course support and loss.

I dont understand the sacrifice of win rate, over waiting time. Not to mention the fun out of the game. Its annoying having to play a role you dont want nor are you good at because some people complained about having to wait. all i want to know is when will it go away and stay away, i cant play ranked if my only role is support.

I feel bad for people that get autofiled, i picked a great time to be a supp main XD

Assuming that literally nobody wants to play support, there is a 1 in 5 chance of getting autofilled into that role. You just hit a streak of bad luck, that's all.

That's not how autofill works. It's not an equal chance; it looks at which role needs players and fills that role (usually support).

Mathematically, every game has 10 people, two of which are support. You can't just assume that the other 8 slots are already filled because ohh high demand, because you also have a chance of getting placed into those slots.

Auto fill, by definition, FILLS the slot that is in demand. It could be adc. it could be sup. It could be any role. But USUALLY it is support. The ONLY thing that affects your chance of getting autofilled (as opposed to the two rolls you chose) is whether that position is in NEED of getting filled. There is no "random chance" involved; there's no pseudo-random algorithm placing you here or there. It's solely demand based, and I challenge you to prove otherwise.

You're assuming that you're the only person getting autofilled, and that everyone else is getting magically placed into their roles. First of all, everyone is getting autofilled, so that clearly just falls off right there. Secondly, even if only some people were going to get autofilled, you also have a chance to not get autofilled, and therefore not get stuck in the role with the highest demand.

I don't get why people don't like playing support. Bard and Zyra are just too much fun.

Games need supports to start, and since no one wants to play the role, everyone has to share the burden.

Supports aren't THAT rare, I'm sorry. 90% of the times you're autofilled, it could have been avoided because you got someone's secondary or primary who also got your secondary or primary, or there were more people involved to where the system COULD have gotten everyone in one of their roles.

i dont mean everyone hates support, i just mean its unfair for me to be reported for sucking at support and mmy team and i to lose a game because me or someone else is forced into a role they aren't atleast a B- at.

Sucking at support is not a reportable offense.

Maybe you should actually learn the role so you could have a better chance at winning. We all get forced into it from time to time.

That happened all the time before we even had role selection, when the only fair way of determining position was pick order. Back then, everyone pretty much had to know every role at least moderately well, to even survive in ranked.

Now? I feel like the ranked community has become spoiled. Expecting their ranking to be representative of their best roles, rather than their over all performance, blaming their faults on autofill rather than their own skill and mastery of the game.

More so that the players on the other team are just as likely to be playing with the exact same handicap. So it's not even a disadvantage on a statistical level. It's only that it feels bad, when you get a role that you don't specialize in.

Getting reported for doing poorly in a particular position? yeah that kinda sucks, but it means that you should try and improve in that position. Also, if you can get a feel for all the positions, your going to end up with a much higher level understanding of the game at large.

Well technically it could be a statistical disadvantage. Say you get someone autofilled who mains support and gets top or jungle, then someone on the enemy team gets someone who doesn't play support gets autofilled to support. Support is imo the easiest role to play decently at, so I would imagine your autofilled jungle or top laner would feed more than their support, assuming they picked a support that isn't difficult to play and have at least a moderate amount of experience with the champion they picked. You're not always autofilled into support, so the scales could tip in one team's favor.
