Now that ranked season is over, does this mean my rank doesn't matter?

I barely scraped by and got Diamond 5 at the end of the season, but I see that I can keep playing ranked and gain/lose LP. Is this LP meaningless? I don't wanna get demoted to plat 5 and lose my border (which I haven't got yet...). Thanks!

whatever rank you were when the season ended is what counts
