Why is Braum ultimate considered a projectile

Xipee808··27 votes·1,888 views

So it doesn't make any sense to me why Yasuo's wind wall is able to block Braum's ultimate. Syndra's W an ability that throws a projectile can go through Yasuo's wind wall but a fissure in the ground cant? not only does it not sense that it's considered a projectile logically speaking (yes its a fantasy game) how in the hell would a wall of wind above the ground prevent a fissure from opening up in the earth. It's bad enough my adc cant do anything when his wind wall is up but i also cant peel? this just seems like a huge mistake and i feel it should be patched. What do ya'll think, you with me on this?

it would be funny if ww flying with his ult would be considered a projectile lol

...Would this literally delete the player from the game?

It Hertz When IP2 votes

Much as I hate to be the literallist, no. Other "player becomes projectile" abilities flung at Windwall just drop the player in question in front of the windwall.

Look up shaco deleted from game has windwall

Wasn't that a bug?

Ya it was funny I was making a ww needs to be deleted joke that u are ruining with logic

shaco used to be a projectile in pbe and when he ulted he would disappear out of the game

If you are Braum then just block back with his Unbreakable.

As for why with Syndra it is to prevent bugs with minions and monsters being thrown at the wall.

lol braum block does nothing against yasuo? as long as they're smart enough to EQ and not throw the tornado

as long as they're smart enough to EQ and not throw the tornado

And that is why Braum unbreakable works against Yasuo players. Because 95% of them are not smart enough and will throw the tornado out.

Windwall is coded as a projectile because it starts behind yasuo slightly and moves forward from there. I know if two yasuos windwall at each other the windwalls will destroy each other, and I'm guessing braum can block it too so it stays behind yasuo and never moves in front of him.

You'd think after 3-4 years of these champs being out people would catch a hint and realize that projectile is a classification of a game object on a level below what is visible (like it has been explained as several times). Just because the particles on screen are different than what you think of when you hear the word projectile doesn't mean that the actual physics are different.

its also because its visual throw, coded AOE. Braums has a visual, directional travel, vel'coz has the same deal.

Applying logic into this game is a bad idea to begin with.

you're right we should just make thresh autos work with runnan's, Mages scale with AD, and adc's scale off resistances lol come on bro games need logic.

You're thinking too realistically and emotionally and not enough on the code side. There are two types of attacks, those tied to a unit, and those tied to a projectile. (Besides those that just sort of appear, like ziggs ult/kog'maw ult). Syndra's W is her throwing a minion, which then deals damage. Yes, her balls are coded as minions, in fact, on release, jungle monsters used to target the balls. As for braum's ult? Well, it's definitely a projectile.

Could an exception be made? Perhaps, but I don't see it happening.

Well i'm not a programmer so i'm not going to be thinking about the code, i'm a gamer i play the game and develop opinions the programmers can use to improve their game. I don't think its "too" realistic to assume that a fissure in the ground shouldn't be considered a projectile i believe that's the perfect amount of realism a game like this should have. being too realistic would be to say that "Braum shouldn't be able to slam the ground and make rocks spike up out of it humans are strong enough to do that." I refuse to believe that without already knowing how the interaction works you automatically assumed Braums ult would be blocked by wind wall that's ridiculous. i mean come on Viktor Ulti passes right through it.

Viktor ulti is a unit. It can be controled. It deals damage upon being within a certain change. It is not, therefore, a projectile.

Better question is why is Vel'Koz W considered a projectile?

Ralanr3 votes

Because it travels from point A to point B in a given set of time. That's a projectile.

That's why lasers like Vel and Lux ult go past the wall. There is no travel time for them.

Colgate Minuette1 votes

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it doesn't matter, it's on the floor so I'm going to be unreasonable about it.

Also Braum ult does the same thing travels from one side to the other so the argument I'm raising is that if braum ult gets to go past windwall then vel'koz W needs to be able to as well.

Xilixer1 votes

any ability that shoots forward and isnt instant will be counted as a projectile. honestly if your playing vel'koz you shouldnt be using w against yasuo. only shoot q's to bait out the windwall. then only w if you land an e or if you are trying to poke him while also farming lane.

never use w as a sole poking tool. its only for farming and comboing off of e or q.

Colgate Minuette1 votes

I think you missed the part where I said "I'm going to be unreasonable about it"

Also I don't need Velkoz advice, pretty sure I have champion mastery on him and if not it doesn't matter cause I'm a support main.

Second to that I've never found Yasuo windwall to really be a problem. It's so easy to just walk around.

Asayake 5150glow1 votes

It would barely even matter, Braum R's AoE would hit Yas (because he's melee). Most of the times you wouldn't even be using your R2 to hit a Yas, although he could block it for his team.

Aka, yeah it's weird, but Yas isn't the problem. The problem is the Caitlyn behind the Wind Wall you were aiming at.
