So I'm a support main and I know my cs should be down, but what about when my ADC is away? should I still not get the last hit or should I get that gold? haven't been maining support for that long so this might be a dumb question XD

Go for the last hits. Don't push the wave unless the enemy bot is still pushing. As long as you're not giving your adc a disadvantage when he gets back to lane, you can do what you want.

Last hit usually, but it also depends on the situation.

And if the adc flames you for last hitting while he's on base/dead mute him cuz he wont say anything positive un the game most likely.

Short answer yes.

Longer answer;

If the wave is slowly pushing into you then just last hit and do not use abilities and once the wave is about to crash into tower if you can safely hold the wave just out of tower range let the minions attack you and just sit still until your wave catches up.

If wave is pushing away hard push use everything you can to safely push that wave into the enemy tower so the lane resets to the middle.

Upvote this guy.

The first scenario, its called freezing the wave near tower, less minions will die, and the adc can catch up more gold and xp, this ensures that bot lane stays in the game and not behind. This also may force (sometimes) to the opponent to "fix the wave" and overcommit far from safety (their tower).

Second scenario, pushes the wave, denies minions to the opponent, they will die eventually, and push back into you, refresing or reseting the Lane.

it depends on the situation, but mainly you just want to help manipulate the wave to give the most amount of available CS to your ADC. If the wave is pushing into the enemy tower so it will bounce back, try and push it safely if you can to make it bounce faster since he is away (helps more enemy minions pool up if the turret clears yours and denies the enemy minions). If the wave is pushing towards you do your best to hold the wave for your ADC and not let it get under tower (drag them, stun them, tank minion dmg, etc).

While manipulating the wave you can get all the gold on last hits that there is no way the adc can get.

Trying to minimize CS per se is cargo culting. The reason a support has low CS is because they're leaving it for the ADC. If the ADC isn't around, deliberately not CSing is wasting gold.

if there's no other ally champion in lane with you you can last hit minions only to get gold but just don't push the wave. freeze it where it is. Unless your ally got kill and backed without pushing to tower. THen I will try to push it to the tower to reset wave then back.

If your ADC is getting close to lane, don't last hit. Especially if there's a cannon minion coming up.

Otherwise, if you have spellthief's or ancient coins with uncompleteed quests, don't last hit. You're only delaying your ability to ward, in addition to losing out on damage/mana from the items.

If your quest is done, or if you have relic shield, go ahead and last hit the minions if you're all alone. Supports need gold too, but they should be willing to give it up should the ADC or JG then come to lane.

you should if the wave is shoving to the enemy you should bounce. it if the enemy is still in lane passively farm. if it is pushing to your tower too fast trimm it out. if it is pushing to your tower and your adc can get back before losing 2-3 minions you estimate leave yourself refresh hp /mana buy items and pray that you leave 12 seconds before the adc so you can reach lane at the same time. and you dont miss out on wave and a half of exp and farm. you can also gank another lane instead of backing

The only time you'd kill minions as a Support is -

  • If you have to kill a few to prevent a wave from crashing into your turret. It's better for your ADC to catch half a wave of minions then lose an entire wave to the tower.

  • If you and your ADC need to shove so you can base.

  • You have enough waveclear to clear a pushing side lane. (Mage support thing mainly, Enchanters can't really waveclear)

I'm a Vayne player myself... If we kill the enemy laner I say "Help me shove so I can base."

Last hit's only. Doing anymore than that will just push the lane and could REALLY hurt your ADC and prevent your jungler from helping. It is fine to take the gold that is right there anyway, but if you do anymore than last hit you will mess with any lane control your ADC may have. The only possible exception is when pushing the wave would reset the lane, then it would be OK to push the wave.

Yes you can.

Learn wave management cause you can totaly f*ck your adc lane. Junglers & support should learn this.
