Rune Prices; Are they too high?

I think the title really says it all, but I want opinions. I just don't see the logic in a quintessence being worth more than Cho'Gath. I am just looking for a logical reason. I mean I'm fine with, "we want people to buy more RP, so runes are so high so people will runes with IP and champions with RP". They have to eat too people lets be real. But for all intents and purposes I don't see why the price is so unnecessary high especially when some of the regular runes take upwards of 5-7 wins to buy a single rune (wins mind you not including losses between those wins). Combine that with wanting to buy new champions, you are looking at having to play a ton of games in order to get things like runes. This is especially aggravating when you start ranked where every little bonous can help you win your lane. I am not trolling, flaming, or anything else, I'm just genuinely wanting opinions on this matter.

First, formatting dude. use them page breaks!

Second, grammar!

Opinions...

I don't think they are too high. Let's change the price into how many games you have to play to get a rune:

On a normal game, you get about 130 IP average. (low balling it)

  • A top tier quint is about 2050? Most are 1025? yes.

1025 / 130 = 8 games

  • A rune costs 410, so.....

410 / 130 = 3 games

  • A full page has 18 normal, 3 quint so:

7380 + 3075 = 10455 IP / 130 IP/game = 80 games (not counting FWotD)

So, the topic for discussion is whether 80 games per page is too high? Most people have 500 on their account by the time they get to ranked play. Ofc, you have to buy champs, so there is that, but if the argument is that Riot should make a page worth 50 games (savings of 30 games), then that brings the total price point for everyone down, and means people hit the full potential of the game sooner, meaning they will start accumulating IP that they cannot spend sooner. At the current rate, Riot has it set to where if you play for 2 years at a steady diet of 4 games a day, you can unlock all content (minus skins). Should we argue that this be set to 1 year? or 2 years at 2 games a day?

I, myself am at 2/3rd of all content unlocked, and just have the useless runes to acquire. I understand the desire for newer players to get rune pages set up, but that is something you learn to appreciate by continuing to play. This is a play-to-win game, and I think it does it very well.

edit: I'll throw this in. While having customized pages for everything is handy, and obviously has benefits, there are only 3 rune pages that you absolutely must have in order to function in League: AD, AP, AD/AS

In my opinion... Yes they are.

Runes are too expensive. 820 for a 3rd tier mark is just too much. I was barely okay with it being at 574. It's taking me forever and a day to complete my AP page. I wanted it done by now so I could move onto saving for champions like Jinx Talon Velkoz Xerath Zed Zyra
