Nidalee in 5.15
The javelin cast time has been doubled. Is there any real reasoning behind this?
I understand the damage changes. As a Nidalee player myself, the damage values of her Q were a bit much depending on enemy team composition. Squishy champions were chunked a bit too much for 1 spell.
Doubling the cast time though... why? Not everyone plays Nidalee as a jungler where hiding in brush alleviates the higher cast time. As a person who's main mid-lane champion is Nidalee, casting javelin when my lane opponent consistently has sight of me is already troublesome... awaiting for that gap between minions or for my mid-lane opponent to move out from behind minions already makes Nidalee's Q difficult to hit the target. A higher cast time makes this window even smaller than it already is.
I get the whole champion specialization thing that Riot is going for... but to further push a champion to one role isn't particularly good design in this type of game. Nidalee's main problems surround the buginess of her Q, whether it be barely visible or completely invisible when thrown from the edge of the screen. THIS is the polarizing problem with Nidalee and why some people seem frustrated with Nidalee. The buginess as well as some peoples' inability to dodge a skillshot, whether Nidalee's Q, Ezreal's Q, or any other long-range and moderately quick traveling skill shot are where these perceived problems with Nidalee are coming from. Her skill shot's main advantages over other skill shots are the higher damage and the mark it applies. The damage is lowered now, and the mark is essential to her design, so why are any other changes to the skill's characteristics needed? Player skill and faulty coding is the problem.
Nidalee is already an uncommon pick, let alone for any role other than jungler. My main point is that lowering the base damage of her Q is enough of a change as is, and a higher cast time just makes her more difficult to play in any role other than jungling.
