Champion classification has absolutely no impact on your endgame score. The champion you play in the role you play gets compared with other people with the same champion in the same role. So all Brand supports are weighted against other Brand supports, not the midlaners.
Also, Brand is absolutely not a support and has nothing in his kit that allows for support play. Blowing up people is something basically every champion can do, and the fact that there is a stun means nothing; Ahri has harder, more reliable CC, that does not make her a decent support. Only reason Brand was ever allowed into the job was because his base damage is absurdly high instead of scaling like most other mages, which let him zone people in the laning phase. Meant he didn't need quite as much gold investment to be combat effective. Still doesn't make him anywhere near an acceptable support.
Supports, true supports, champions that actually are supports, interact in a positive way with allied champions. Heals, Shields, Bonus Damage Sources, CC Immunities, Saves... You get the drift.
That also disqualifies Anivia, Zyra, Annie and Vel'Koz by the way. They're all mages. Not supports.
