Win game lose tier?

7-3 in placements, got Gold 5. Then today it said need one more game to place me. Little did i know, this is a trap. I won my extra game and place at silver 4. Then i heard from a friend that his friend was bronze 2 and now plat 3? My friend got worse treatment than i do, he placed in silver 5, play all the way to silver 2, guess what, he is back to silver 5 baby.

I read alot of discussions how people won the extra placement and actually drop tiers, from plat to gold, or gold to bronze.

Is the rank broken? or worse?

Original placements were completely screwed and people were being place nowhere near their appropriate rankings (i.e. Diamond players being placed in Bronze, Silver players getting matched with Diamonds, etc).

Considering you ended S6 in Silver and your ranking generally lowers during resets (as Riot explicitly warned people of), Silver 4 is an appropriate ranking for after your placements.

The Gold 5 placement was just an error of the system which has now been corrected.

yeah i went 7-3 as well got placed Silver 3, than after the 1 game was sent to bronze 1. never been ranked in bronze ever, in the 3-4 seasons i have been playing LOL i have never been bronze, like wtf. they need to come out with solo queue ranked so i can forget flex queue is a thing and never touch it again

i wonder what my diamond account will get after going 8-2 and getting Bronze 4

if i'm lucky it will drop me straight to bronze 5 or maybe they'll make a new rank for me and call it bronze 6
