How does the LP gains work?

Hi all,

I am grinding out ranked, and I am curious to know how LP works.

My win rate is 30W - 11L, and I have climbed from bronze 2 to silver 4. Now that I am silver 4, I won all 5 games gaining 20-25 lp per game, and lost two promos in a row (to nasus >:( ).

Since then I am now gaining 10-16 lp per game. How can this be? Surely I should be gaining more to get me into the league that my skill level belongs in.

Can anyone accurately explain?

Another interesting thing was that last season, I was silver 4 then and was duoing with a mate in gold 4. If we lost, my gold partner would lose 15lp, and I would lose 30 lp? How can this possibly work!?

Anyone have any answers?

When you 1st got to Silver 4 you was getting large LP because the system thought you belonged in a higher rank class. You was winning a lot more than you was losing. So if you would of won that Promo you might of skipped Silver 3 and went right into Silver 2.

But since you now lost your Silver 3 promos 2 times in a row now the LP gains are lower because the systems believes you are in your correct rank class.

If you start losing a lot more LP than you gain then the system thinks you are in a higher rank than you should be and you have to dig your way out.

Was getting around 28-30 LP per win and losing 12-14 LP per loss on my way thru Gold to Plat 4. When I won my promos to Plat 3 I got skipped up to Plat 2 and my LP gains decreased dramatically down to around 20-22 per win and up to losing 14-16 LP per loss. System thinks I'm closer to where I should be.

it seems your current MMR is a bit below your rank, as you get placed mostly against bronze players it seems.
