Ranked Play Blues

Hello fellow Riot employees and LoL community.

I just just spent the day totaling up some of my game histories for 2 of my accounts and here's an interesting little stat I came across, that I thought you might like to see...or would not rather not see.

56 ranked games played (within the past few months) 16 of 56 games involved an AFK/Disconnect (28.6%)

Takeaway: Almost 1 out of 3 games feature an AFK/Disconnect.

All games were played in Silver II - Silver IV divisions

THIS is why I'm growing weary of this community. It's not fun trying to play at a handicap on a regular basis. item 3070 item 3070

Are those stats for both teams or just your team?

Just my teams. You're hitting on a good point though! How many of my wins were because of an AFK on the enemy team? I know there's been a few, but I feel like I'm on the other end of the shaft when it comes to getting AFKs/disconnects.

If you can't fix someone taking the time to level to 30 and then troll games (which,I think the perma ban needs to be used much more) then at least save us who are tying. If there is a DC or just a troll in champ select let us escape without losing 20lp- and entire division. Sometimes it takes 10 promo series to get a promotion because of this small percentage of the community to rank up just to lose it instantly to the same people and nothing gets changed. It may just be a game but I'm using my real time to play it and I feel like its getting wasted because riot won't use the perma ban where its needed.

The community is the root of the afk/disconnect issue? The community is a subsection of everyone who plays league, and is typically rather well behaved in comparison. This is not a community problem.

Intentionally feeding and trolling IS a problem in the community. I'm talking about people that feed 5 kills to an enemy laner (in less than 15min) and then go AFK.

There are a lot of inept players or the community is really full of trolls. Either way.

So what makes these players a part of the community? Just because they play the game? Showing up shouldn't be the only requirement to be considered a community.

I don't consider every player to be part of the community, otherwise the community would be a horrible place beyond fixing.

Then what's your definition of "community," Sidewinder? I think you might be bringing up a good point.

Obviously, these people play enough games to reach level 30, do their placement matches, and troll silver tiered matches. I don't think they're casual players and I would consider them "part of the community." (as unfortunate as that is)

My definition of a community is a group of people who come together and do something as a a unified group. In the case of league we are here to compete against one another. People who troll and afk typically do so in an effort to ruin the competitive environment for others. They are not coming together with us, they stand against us, and that is why I do not consider them to be a part of our community.

Everyone that enters the solo queue/duo queue are a part of that community, for better or worse. item 3151

I completely agree that they are "standing against us," but as of now, there's no way of combating the problem in a manner that immediately affects the current game, or the next 7-14 days of game play for the problem person.

In theory, LeaveBuster and the Tribunal should take care of the problem player; however, the problems are too common to give either credit. :(
