Ranked Placements. Iron 1 after winning 8/8 or 100% of my placement matches.

I'm having a hard time finding anything online about what exactly is going on with the new placement system. I noticed I only have 8 placement matches as opposed to 10.

I own 8 out of 8 matches, only to get a sad sink in the stomach of gaining Iron 1. Is this a joke? Please someone, tell me there is more to this rabbit hole that I am missing. Any information on this topic is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you're going to stomp hard in Iron and easily climb.

Tip: Get good with a skirmisher of your choice, and you'll be gold in no time.

I agree completely. Riot needs to be more transparent about the thinking behind this because it makes no sense and is extremely discouraging.

i know i got 8 out of 10 games in ranked and i am iron II this is sad so sad i literally cried i spent so much time on winning these games and i am iron II

If this is your first season playing ranked, then it seems like Riot has developed an algorithm to place people in Iron. (could be wrong)

Yes it is my first season playing ranked on this account... however I was playing with mid gold tier. Doesn't make sense.

It doesn't matter from the accounts I saw, if it is your first season they seem to always place you in Iron regardless. I know people that are fighting diamonds but are in iron. It is a bit stupid

So now, correct me if I'm wrong, I have to climb through iron, then through all of bronze, and then through all of silver after competing with mid gold tier and winning?

That makes zero sense.

Well yes, but you'll most likely skip divisions and earn an overwhelmingly high amounts of LP after a win.

not true. ive done 5 of 8 placements with a 1-3 record and im bronze 2 so far

No it just starts fresh accounts from the bottom.

As for the OP,

Placements are different now for new accounts. You start from the very bottom and just a ton of LP for wins and lose 0 LP on losses in placements. That means if you win 100% of placements you will have Iron1 with a massive MMR. I made a new account and you actually skip through divisions quite easily, it didnt feel any slower then before.

Ranked has always placed you low in your first placement matches. Why would they place you high? You have literally 0 prior Ranked experience which is what leads to people being placed high. They tell you that your next season's placement depends in part on your place in the last season, so if it's your first season they factor it as if you ended last season at the very bottom.

Or something like that. They could jsut be fine-tuning things since Iron is fairly new.

Its a bug. I got silver 1 in a new account and iron 4 in an older previously gold 3 account. I wrote to the support and they promoted me to silver 2. It seems like its some kind of a luck effect.

So after contacting Riot they gave me a cheesy explanation on why it did this but refused to do anything. So i replied back and they deleted my ticket great customer service Riot!
