When it comes to champs with a low pick rate and a high win rate it is often because the few people who are playing that champ play them as a main, or at least very often (Heimer comes to mind).

Also he is a great mid counter pick as the majority of mid picks do magic damage, which Galio enjoys.

He wrecks AP champs. Since the mage update there have been more AP champs on the field and he thrives on that.

Mostly just that it's a small sample and 2 out of 3 common AD mid have high ban rates, and one of them Zed is fucking permabanned

I recently checked champion.gg and saw that Galio had the second highest win rate, first highest for mid. I was just wondering if there's a reason for that?

I'd guess a small sample size resulting in data that's more random than conclusive.

On the linked champion.GG page, LeBlanc is the only champion in their data that's played more than 100 games vs. Galio for his pro and con matchups. It only has 2 Quinn games to look at.

~1500 games also seems like a daily sample-size rather than a weekly or monthly one. It's a pretty solid sample size, but I've noticed daily win rates can very quite widely on all the stat-tracking sites I've looked into. Looking at weekly and especially monthly win-rates tend to show clearer patterns, daily win-rates can be extremely volatile.
