In what realm of video games is this considered supporting?

So, I think we're all aware of mages taking complete control over the bot lane by now, but why are they getting the title "support"? Just because they don't take cs from their adc, and build a Frost Queen's doesn't not differentiate them from APC's. 90% of the time, they don't even build a sightstone, they just end up buying more AP burst items right after Frost Queens. In what nature of mind is that anywhere close to what supporting is supposed to be in this game? I literally just get one shot by the "support" late game every single fight. Yes, you can argue that it's "aiding the team by having damage", but aren't they supposed to offer peel, healing, utility, etc; not more damage? Doesn't make a bit of sense to me, I can't even remember the last time I'VE seen an Alistar/Leona/Braum/Karma/Soraka/Taric in my past 100 games. It's literally pathetic that people get auto-fill so they just play something that just one shots squishies over and over again mid-late game.

You're not wrong about this, I feel like it is just people who get auto-filled and they don't feel like playing legitimate supports, so they just throw what deals damage down there, but 1 support item, then splats the label "support" on it. Until auto-fill gets removed, which I can assure you, it will not, this will continue on.

Objectively, there really isn't much "wrong" with being able to play a carry as a support. It almost seems worse to force a player to play a low damage champion like a Janna or something; Which, in a sense, removes your ability to take the game into your own hands and forces you to rely heavily on how good the random adc that you get paired with is and later in the game, how good the rest of your team is.

It's really not that much different than playing a full-tank top lane like Nautilus Maokai , vs wanting to play something like Riven Quinn orFiora

For the player base as a whole, it's shown that support is the least popular role;-Being able to play MORE than a "white mage" healer, enchanter, defensive-style support might at least attract more players to play the role --Which league desperately needs. So many players complain about auto fill, que times, dodging, etc.. because either THEY don't want to play support, or that there aren't enough other players who want to play support instead of them.

All right, first I'd like to address the inconsistencies with your post in comparison to your op.gg. You say that you cant remember certain champs in your past 100 games, one of them being braum, when there was one supporting your team in a ranked game earlier today (you played nasus), and twice the enemy team had braum. The games where you were the adc, which seems to be your main, you had a janna, bard, and nautilus. Out of those, only 1 wasn't made specifically for the support role (nautilus). In all 4 of your ranked games, the support on your team bought a sightstone.

You mentioned the enemy ap support bursting you, so I'm assuming you mean the game that you played against a xerath support. There are a few things to say about this. First, xerath support is probably one of the worst AP champs to take to the lane. It will lose against any adc / support that know how to play the lane, hands down. How do i know? Because I've mained support, jungle and mid since season 2 and made it to plat as a support main on multiple accounts. back to xerath - His q slows him and is fairly easy to dodge, he has only 1 stun and a slow as far as utility, and he can only get off minimal damage before going oom. The exception to that being if he auto attacks you, but as draven you will easily out trade him. In any case, a xerath will NEVER 1 shot you, no matter which ability he uses. Building off your complaint about sightstone, why couldn't you call out to your jungler that bot wasn't warded? did you buy control wards to get rid of the enemy adc's trinket wards? Without any wards on the enemy side, you can use the brush 100% to your advantage without any downside. Bush camp. Anything.

As far as AP supports, I think they have a perfect niche in bot lane. There is definitely a tier list among them, with zyra, velkoz, morgana and brand being on the top, but making them completely negating their viability in the lane would alienate a huge portion of the player base, myself included. I love vel koz, and the 4 champs i just mentioned have been part of my support repertoire since each of their releases. I also play traditional supports, such as lulu, janna, thresh, bard, leona, etc. you know what counters ap casters bot? healers. The damage they put out cant stick. I've also been straight outskilled by enemy bot lanes, and jungle pressure is much harder to deal with as someone like brand or velkoz than if i were playing janna or lulu.

tl;dr You should easily beat a xerath support, ap mages have their place bot lane, you should work on your own skill bot lane and avoid blaming "op op op" for your losses. You'll never get better that way.

Support in this context is whoever is there to "aid" the marksmen. Originally yes, those were the champions like Janna or Lulu or Leona. However, either Riot or some country decided that CC is what makes support. Look at Zyra. They label her a secondary Support. Or Syndra... for some reason. Basically, stunning/rooting/slowing is what defined support. So of course the mages that have that took said role. Like I said, I don't know when that transition happened but that is what happened. Utility to CC. If I do not recall, champs like Lux and Morgana have been seen to be support for a long time. It did take a while before other mages followed them.

I play a fair bit of adc, sometimes I don't even get any kills because my support just takes them off. I love it.

But if you DARE try and bring that up in game then those players will go "lol, I have CC". No really, I literally had an enemy Lux say that because she has a root on her Q, she's a support, despite her building nothing but damage.

Most people relate support to going bot with the ADC in this game. The term kill lane, i guess, doesn't exist anymore in this game.

Not all supports build sightstone. I main support and building sighstone in this meta is not worth. it is better to build better items such as main tank items on tank supports and ap items on ap supports. if the team needs vision then we all buy control wards. simply as that. It is a team game. Not a "support get vision idiot" game. I hate hearing this in my games as I main support

Pretty annoying shit man, I love getting faced against Vel-koz/Xerath or annie support. They literally just burst you down, then the adc just auto's you once and you die. Cool stuff RIOT.
