Riot, Please.

Riot, please tell me why tank items are dominant in the game. Tell me why someone who builds tank items does more damage than damage dealers, such as adcs and mids. Tell me why they take more damage than anyone else in the game and do more damage than anyone else in the game. This game was once a game I loved, but now, the reputation of the game is being tarnished in replace of tanks, including tank items. I can't be asked to deal with tank items completely ruining every game that I play. Please make tank items what they used to be... Tank items. Not damage dealing items, tanks items.

Edit: Specifications of tank items, not tanks themselves.

Well as far as Top Lane is concerned, they're not really a problem.

Do you mind providing any evidence why you think they are so overbearing?

I'm not particularly a hashinshin fan, but there are clips of him playing Jax top and rushing bramblevest, and completely destroying his lane opponent, even though Jax isn't considered a tank, he does more damage while lasting longer because of the item. Oh shit, an anecdote. You sure got me with videos of one dude vs the summation of statistics of all recorded players using all recorded Top Laners.

EDIT: Okay I actually watched the videos. It's a Fiora, a champion reliant on her healing and hitting with her Auto Attacks/Q a lot. Tell me, why should I be surprised Bramblevest counters her?

EDIT EDIT: And Jax isn't even a Tank.

Hashinshin is in the top 1<% of players, this is peak performance and what is generally expected in League of Legends games. If the top of the line players are building items like Bramblevest, and dominating with it, don't you think that's a problem?

building a bramble vest doesn't make you a tank.

twistedD3ATH1 votes

It kind of does, Bramblevest is the foundation starting item for Thornmail, a tank item. If you only have the foundation of a tank item while also dealing an insane amount of damage and not taking any damage, that ruins top lane in favor of the one who built the item.

Read the edits.

And I'm pretty sure it's just common knowledge of the Boards not to balance the game around only the top % of players, did you miss the memo?

/edit A word

twistedD3ATH1 votes

I understand that it's not fair to regular players to balance the game based on the top % of people, but those people got there for a reason, and if a popular person is dominating with an item, people in lower ELOs will follow in their path, creating a path of tank destruction.

TehNACHO2 votes

Then edit your post to talk about Thornmail, not Tanks as a whole. Duh

You're blaming Tanks for an issue caused solely by Thornmail in one specific example where Thornmail is supposed to be strong being used by a champion who isn't even a Tank. Do you see where this is going?

twistedD3ATH1 votes

Yea, I guess you're right, I'll fix the post.

twistedD3ATH is a permabanned account, I have a new main that is not bronze, but I've been playing the game for 8 years at this point. I don't actively strive to get better in ranked, but I play enough to notice when something needs a change.

Derpsammich2 votes

The reason he's mad about "tanks being to strong" Is because his current FOTM champ is top and that's home to most tanks. So yes when you go 0/11 and feed anybody "not only tanks" they will be strong enough to kill just about anything

RenownedWheat422 votes

Literally no tank does more damage than people who are meant to deal damage, unless the tank champ builds offense and the dps champ deals defense.

People REALLY need to stop exaggerating this kind of stuff.

twistedD3ATH1 votes

"Literally no tank", Ornn, Cho'gath, Galio, Malphite is becoming prevalent, and all these champs have to do is take courage and build Sunfire / Thornmail and they're set until the 30-40 minute mark. again, on average dealing more damage than almost every adc / mid until late game

gabetheguy2 votes

I bet you think garen/darius/nasus are tanks lol

twistedD3ATH1 votes

They're not tanks, but they soak a hell of a lot of damage while dealing a hell of a lot of damage because of tank-like items.

RenownedWheat422 votes

garen and darius want item 3071, which does damage, and nasus wants item 3078, which does damage.

Nasus isn't hitting hard because sometimes he buys item 3110. "tank-like" items are not the cause for their strength. These are champs who are meant to dish out damage.

twistedD3ATH1 votes

Sure they're meant to dish out damage, but if they can dish out damage and not take any damage, that's where the problem starts. You should either be able to take damage, or deal damage, not both.

What tank does more damage then a 4 item vayne or Jinx. Stop being dramatic

twistedD3ATH1 votes

Sure, 4 item jinx or vayne does more damage than tanks, but that's towards the end of the game, usually, the game ends faster, especially in this meta. So on average tanks end up dealing more damage than adcs.

RenownedWheat421 votes

Numbers are heavily skewed when a lot of tank damage is AoE. Hitting 5 people for 100 looks a lot stronger than hitting 1 person for 300.

twistedD3ATH1 votes

But you have to factor in survivability as well, an adc on 1 person will probably end up dying if it's a toplaner or a midlaner, if a tank is on 5 people, he'll generally last longer than the adc on the top or mid. while also dealing more damage than the adc, since the tank lasts longer.

RenownedWheat422 votes

Tank is doing a small amount of damage multiple times over a longer period because he lives longer.

If he does his job right the ADC is doing huge amounts of damage multiple times over a long period because the tank/support keeps him alive.

But if your argument is "This small amount of damage over a long period is too much" then that's a little ridiculous.

twistedD3ATH1 votes

No, I'm saying that while yes, ADCs do a lot of damage, they do that damage in the late game, but the way that tanks are scaling with the items that they're building, they generally do a ridiculous amount of damage early game and smash through ADCs and Midlaners alike.

RenownedWheat422 votes

This is ridiculous. ADCs don't just do damage post 30 min. They come online at one-two items, which is pretty early considering their builds are not exactly expensive. They'll get Shiv/IE or whatever two items they need before most others, tanks included.

twistedD3ATH1 votes

But the tanks have their foundation items built way before the ADCs do, and if the tanks can stomp on the ADCs before the ADCs can get their items, it sets the ADC even further behind.
