Dealing with the toxic players in the lower levels?

So a couple of games ago I Ashe/Karma bot lane. I played Ashe, my support - obviously - was Karma. Within ten minutes she starts spouting off how s/he is a bronze 2 main and that she will carry. So she jumps into a fray with nid-ashe and ends up dying despite my best efforts to slow. Soon after she calls me a faggot, noob cunt, etc. So I mute her. Soon as I do she starts killing the minions, casting on them even if it's only one. At this point I am frustrated and try to go 'support' mid lane who was winning. Soon as I moved into her lane she flips out - "Get the fuck out of here." So... what was I supposed to do? Deal with a support who lets them attack me and takes my CS or have an angry mid who yells at me for trying to help? I ended up trying to farm the jung but of course this pissed off the jung... I ended up AFK and they promise to report me. WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE!? So I went back bottom, where - sure enough - Karma took cs, didn't poke them and allowed them to kill me. Frustrated and now slightly annoyed at the player base of this game, I decided to purposely feed to end that game sooner. ANYTHING to get them away from me. . . How do you deal with people like this when muting them does nothing to better the situation?

When they start to get wordy and talking like a middleschooler, I say "muted and reported" and then mute them. At this point, no matter what they do in game doesn't bother me. If they take cs I'll say "please stop taking cs" if they continue, oh well, I can't stop them. And hey, it's a small challenge within the game, trying to last hit better than a karma who has one offensive ability towards minions anyway. It's all about self control. The way I see it. People who swear can't think of anything more intelligent to say so they resort to highschool/middleschool tactics. Every game man, "muted and reported" I recently got a good taste of how strict Riot is with people who swear and use foul language. Play the game to the best of your ability. Don't let what anything someone else does effect how you play the game. Report and move on. Big Papa Riot will take care of them. I promise.

Words should never be able to hurt you, or you are too weak(unless it's your girlfriend breaking up with you or the doctor telling you you have cancer...but that usually doesn't happen on league)

Except not once did I mention that I was upset at the name calling. It was the deliberate sabotage of the game and the players unwillingness to work together. It's a team based game, you play together to win together. The situation is, if someone tells you that you suck you're more inclined to ignore or hamper their ability to progress in the game. Like the situation that has happened for a number of my games as I try to learn league. One person says something nasty, I ignore it and mute them only to have them not work with me at all. So I lose games to which we could have won only if they weren't being immature children with too much entitlement.

I want to know, is how you - a veteran player - learn to ignore this and still win/learn?

I've constantly tried to carry but I am new and I don't have all the mechanics down. I hardly, if ever, speak in the chat unless it's to thank my jung or celebrate a win with my support. Most the time a salty/toxic player can be muted and that's that. Yet they still, willingly, work against you towards a loss, as if they think they can win it alone.

It's these lower levels I've noticed where people are rude, childish, and whiny and the word teamwork or advice is foreign to them. I've watched my plat friend play, the one who introduced me to league and taught me the basics, and at his elo they work hard together and, yes, they still fight/name call/whine but they want to win. It seems these lower levels and even the bronze players - for the most part - tend to sabotage themselves. I really don't want to progress with this community of entitlement but I love the mechanics of the game...

lol over the years I've realized that nobody ever actually mutes you if they say "muted" because I'm pretty toxic to people who do bad. No matter how rude the other person is, as long as he's just talking about your skill and not claiming to be raping your mother right then and there, you'd need to be able to communicate at crucial moments.

I'd say you could play some games with me because I know how the lower levels are: most of them are either leveling smurfs or get cocky because they think they know the game just from playing a few bots, however I'm level 30; Bronze I, and would probably be sticking you with too high of a skill level (Though if you want to give it a try, I won't stop you).

As far as playing with people your level, just ignore it. In the beginning it's a learning experience for those who aren't smurfing, and they easily get frustrated when you ask them to do something. If you ask nicely and they get nasty, report it at the end game if they were name-calling or being offensive. If that doesn't work, try to play around it. That's the best advice I can give.

I have a platinum friend who made me play customs with him for a while. I kinda have a little experience with people beyond my skill level and while I can get frustrated, as most players do, I am really aware that it's better - for learning - to lose to people higher in skill than you than it is to win against people below your skill level. If you don't mind having me then I am grateful to play!

At some point you just have to be the more mature one, keep your cool, and do the best you can. and report them.
