I feel like something is wrong after playing 1 aram, spectate a game or watch a pro game to play a game of SR and be THAT close!
How would it affect the gameplay to let us scroll out 2-3 clicks more. IMO it would be more enjoyable and it might improve the gameplay in general!?
Would help a lot for people who played with a locked camera because currently with the max zoom out range, you can't play 
or 
because their spell cast range is higher than the visual screen you are presented with.
We need to have higher zoom out option, and it would honestly help everyone out, both players who used locked and unlocked camera(especially when togging camera to your alies to see what they are doing so you can be more vary of the surroindings).
Because Riot hates people who play with a locked camera. :>
Blizzard's excuse is it's something good players would use to get an advantage that bad players wouldn't use, completely ignoring the other myriad things good players use that bad players don't. I suspect Riot's excuse would be similar.
There are still programs that allow you to zoom out more. I won't suggest you use one as they are certainly against the rules and maybe something Riot will punish. What I will say is I have a friend who has used one such program since season 5 and has not been punished for it once and I don't think I've heard of someone being banned for using it.
I mean, the game is already zoomed out a bit further than it used to be.
It's all part of strategy. Camera control and map awareness are skills, that would be removed if you could just zoom out.
Also letting people zoom out would be like if in CSGO you could choose to play in 3rd person, allowing you to peek corners by standing against the wall.

Does the game zoom in more when the camera is locked? I do use it a lot but i have a friend who cant use the locked cam at all (the new bug locking the camera makes him panic) and he does comment about how zoomed in SR is compared to aram or other games.
I guess the reason would be people with wider monitors would have advantage over people with more narrow monitors. And to be fair to riot that is a good excuse.
Zooming out a little bit more would be so helpful, when you are playing on red side... I often have the problem, that I cant see the enemy anymore when I have to hide under the botside first tower or cant move as precise as I do normaly when I push the cam more towards the enemy laner. Thats especially bad with longer ranged enemys like Cait x.x
because the specific camera range is a strategic decision as you can't just zoom out to spot ganks.
Have you tried scrolling the mouse wheel? No but seriously a couple of years riot said it was a technical limitation.
