Haven't played league in about 2 years and confused with changes. Help?

Hey,

I recently just got back on League because of friend of mine started playing again and the last time I was on Nami was the new champion lmao.

What's all the stuff about loot crafting and boxes? And did any champions get any major nerfs or remakes? I main support so did Riot release any cool supports recently? Any different modes or beta changes I should be aware of.

I'm going to down my own set of research on the wiki pages and do a few bot games before I go back out into the "real world", but if you guys could refresh my memory and let me knows what's up, I would greatly appreciate it. I also made this post to kind of get back into the message boards as well, since I used to post quite often on here too.

Thanks guys!

Things to expect: Tanks are the new assassins 2 or more ADC per game Most Assassins are not so meta, also most ap carries Games are a bit faster Flame is less, people are nicer, or bad ones got banned or reformed.

Thanks for your reply! :) Few questions though. Is it no longer Adc/support bot lane? Is top the new 2nd adc lane?

How are games faster now?

It's still ADC/support not lane (you may get a Norse going ADC, that's a thing.) But marksman like graves and Quinn can go top, and those two and kindred (new champ) can go jungle, and Corki also goes mid. Games are faster because they made it easier to snowball and increased death timers.

Graves and Quinn are the most diverse because they can also go top/jungle/mid

Faster by 5 minutes on average, not a big difference, well it's hard to explain cause i am not sure about the answer exactly, but I would say mainly because how players scale with some new items, a bit increase in gold per minute the addition of rift Herald sometimes makes a difference.

Mostly you still get the classic bot lane adc/support but there is a 40% chance you can get an adc mid(like corki or djihn) an adc top(like graves or quinn) and an adc jungle(like kindred and graves) all of these are legit and some are played by Pros too.

A large portion of ADC's were reworked for the start of S6 (along with the introduction of new items/build paths)

Immobile Mages are struggling hard rn

Poppy got a rework finally

Tahm is the latest support

Marksmen can now be in pretty much ever role (except support)

Some marksmen (looking at you Graves) are tanky front-line bursters now

Enjoy! :)

Also except Tahm Kench now most supports are less tanky champions and more CC and Damage oriented champions. Also Assassins struggle cause of the way too many tanky items that work good on everybody, and the lack of good itemization for assassins

I would argue that Braum and Thresh are the exception to the non-tanky support meta

other than that there is also the hefty engage/cc teams that are popular right now.

Syarx1 votes

Well thresh will always be in the meta cause of his awesome CC and versatility but honestly i don't see braum too much lately

Slythion1 votes

that is true, I haven't seen Braum much lately either but he will always be able to soak up damage for his teammates and provide cc no matter the meta (he isn't shredded like other tanks...kinda like alistar)

Could you name some immoblie mages for me?

Slythion1 votes

Xerath Veigar Viktor Cassiopeia Orianna Syndra Ziggs Karthus Ryze etc Even some of the most mobile mages are struggling: Kassadin Leblanc Ekko

All of these guys and even more mages are sitting at well below a 50% winrate. There is a Mid Year Mage Update (MYMU) though in which champions like Cassiopeia are getting a rework (you can look up the Cassiopeia leaked rework on youtube or surrenderat20.net)

Crafting and boxes: you occasionally get free skins! (more detailed explanation: you occasionally get key fragments on a win, 3 combine into a key, you can use a key to open a chest, which you get by getting an "S" rating on a champion for the first time this season (basically play well and have a great KDA), the chest will have skin or champion fragment inside which you can turn into an actual champion/skin)

Major Reworks/Nerfs: Way too many to list, but the main one that is important right now to supports is Soraka. They changed her from heal over time and mana restore to rapid combat healing, but her heal costs her own health as well as mana. She is pretty strong right now, so if you end up laning against her make sure you focus her first, not her adc or she will just heal him too much to kill. The next 2 stongest supports right now are probably Janna and Blitzcrank, with Blitz being the only potential counter to Soraka.

New supports: Bard and Tahm Kench are the main ones I think, but people have started playing Nautilus and Trundle as supports as well.

Bard is fun, he is focused on roaming as he gets bonuses from collecting Chimes that spawn all over the map. He can be really good, but is somewhat unreliable since he is squishy and very skillshot dependent.

Tahm kench is an extremely tanky support that can easily save the adc from most any situation, but he doesn't have much reliable/quick cc, and he has low kill pressure.

Also a couple of other more general relevant changes, IDK if you were there when trinkets came out, but if not, they are things you can buy at the shop for free that affect vision. The most common one is the yellow trinket that is free wards on a cooldown. You can also get a red trinket that helps you kill wards or a blue one that is like clairvoyance. Trinkets are used by pressing "4" by default.

They are important because you can no longer buy green wards anymore! You can still buy pink wards, but they are visible to the enemy team and you can only have one out at a time. Sight stone still exists though and is important to supports.

Also, Dragon gives stats instead of gold for killing (and you basically win the game if you get 5 but the first 4 aren't that important), and Rift Herald spawns at the baron pit before 20 mins and gives a mini baron buff to one person when killed. Plus, junglers have 2 smite charges now and can buy jungle items that let them smite champions for reduced damage.

Finnally, as referenced in the comment by Syarx, most ADCs were reworked and some of them became a lot stronger. Graves is now really hard to kill and can jungle and top, but his autos are blocked by minions and he has to reload every 2 autos, corki is a stong mid laner, and many other ADCs were also changed as were their items.

Woah at dragon! That's insane!

Welcome back!

What's all the stuff about loot crafting and boxes?

You get free stuff for playing; if you've ever played TF2 it's a similar concept. You can learn more here

And did any champions get any major nerfs or remakes?

Within the past two years....yea a lot lol. Buffs/nerfs change constantly, but there have been a lot of reworks. It's probably just easier if you check here. They've started doing class updates; updated some "juggernauts" last year, marksmen (ADCs) during preseason, so they play pretty differently (and not sure if they're on the champ update list). Mage update is coming later this year.

I main support so did Riot release any cool supports recently?

Bard is spectacular. Tahm Kench is almost universally hated. Braum is cool.

Any different modes or beta changes I should be aware of.

They killed Dominion. They have a rotating game mode queue coming out soon.

DahliasMommy1 votes

I didn't even notice that dominion was gone! Aww!

Its been a little more than two years if Nami was new at the time, she was released in december 2012 i think. So basically since then, masteries have been changed twice, the season 4 vision changes that added trinkets and made pink wards last forever until killed, then green wards being removed this season. And then all the other stuff people have mentioned.
