A question about AA cancelling

Looking at kalista's spotlight, I see that she can actually cancel her AA's lag (which I didn't know). That got me thinking about something : What is the point of cancelling an AA before firing? Most marksmen can barely do it anyway since a lot of their animation is so quick! It looks like calista's passive is just what you'd do anyway : lag-cancelling and moving, accept with more moving around.

looking cool.

Mostly the animation you want to cancel is that directly after firing though, that way you get that extra ~0.5 seconds to move around. Seems small at first, but it can really add up.

It's mostly for positioning purposes. High level ADC play is all about being at the right spot at the right time while still being able to do damage. Orbwalking (One of the nicknames of this trick) is how you can provide the damage necessary to be useful during a team fight while still getting you into the perfect position to wail away on the opponent and never get touched.

Oh no. I realise it that sometime I probably did it thinking I cancelled it before getting into range or something. It will make her slightly more technical to play (on top of everything else).
