PSA: When taking a midlaner support, don't build full AP.

I'd just like to say this for all of those that won't.

After building sightstone a support is free to build as they please. Supports aren't just mobile active item machines.

I've been having several midlaner "supports" not even build a sightstone or any actual support items to start with.

You'll find that more often in bronze. It improves as you rise through the ranks.

Yeah, but if they decide not to pick up Mikaels against a team with heavy CC they shouldn't be playing support.

It's one possibility but not a requirement, in low elo especially. That's what most are forgetting. What works in higher elo rarely if ever works in low. Which is why I've personally witnessed those I know struggle with using high elo tactics when their team will not follow though. The rest of the team just don't know better, care, etc.

The whole reason to take a champion that is normally mid to support is to provide extra damage to the team. After the first two items, you want them to build full AP.

As a support main, I'd usually go one of two paths. (Neither are really AP heavy)

a. Build more spell slinger. Usually when you take a mid laner support, it's usually because they have good utility and CC. Building more CDR and more regen, allows you to cast those spells more often, offering more CC in addition to more damage. And building this way is easy on a supports budget.

b. A more MR shred build. (similar to a zyra build) I recommend this because MR shred items are a tad bit cheaper than high AP items. Also, the MR shred also increases your base damages as well, giving you a bit more early power.
