Been meaning to spend more time documenting a list of quality of life changes, figure out patterns, and applying it to a broad set of champions. Player controlled minions generally have issues in terms of crisp clarity and control. Ori's ball is something that makes that list fo sho. (fo sho)

Hey, you, pssst. Do me a solid and add "Give Anivia a 'you're about to walk out of range' indicator on her ult. Just like the one on thresh lantern/ori ball." to that list of yours.

A bit off-topic, but there technically already is an indicator for that (unless it's bugged and not showing up right now): a blue ! mark appears over Anivia when she's close to walking out of range while her ult's active. (That's what you meant, right?)

Derpy Mike3 votes

Yes I know it's there but it's not the clearest way of displaying an abilities max range. Like imagine if thresh lantern/ ori ball/ eve passive only had a tiny ass exclamation mark instead the range indicators they currently have. It'd be a pain in the ass.

I've never seen that, I'll have to look for it. Thanks!

Anivia already has this. A blue "!" above her head.

would you be able to add an arrow or something to Bard's magical journey on the minimap or something? there seems to be an issue when you use it and the other end is off camera, you kind of have to guess what the right angle to set it up is or it comes out in the wrong spot (like under an enemy turret for instance DX).

Here's another one for you: Change the color of HP bars to account for DOTs (Purple poison, orange burns, white ignite). Seriously, this would be like the biggest clarity thing to DoTs ever.

rinsujo1 votes

Uhhhh, not sure how well that would work with a) colorblind mode, b) the fact that I look for my uniquely colored HP bar and expect it to be Yellow (Or green if you play non-colorblind). Unless you're talking about only changing your own HP bar this way, not a teammates-enemies, and even then changing what I'm looking for in a teamfight... i don;t like that idea. Maybe if there were a screen tint, similar to the blue tint when you stealth, or the red flash when you're really low on hp... That might work better?

Saixos2 votes

What I mean is change a part of the HP bar, to show how much HP will be lost from the DoT. So for example if I have 500 HP and I'm going to lose 100 HP from poison and 50 HP from ignite, then my HP bar will be 70% green/normal color, 20% purple/poison color, 10% white/ignite color.

It's less to show that you are taking DoT, although that is also useful, but primarily to show you how much the DoT will deal. Especially useful if for example "do I need to heal or am I k" "do I need to flash auto for ignite to kill him or can I leave him"

Does that make it better/make you like it more? :)

After reading your further explanation, I like this idea a lot. Many other games have that. Visually, it would look like a reverse shield. Similar to how magic shield is purple, and general shield is grey.

My QoL suggestion for Yasuo: Make his E able to change targets mid dash, in order to take advantage of the low CDR, because the only way I see it now is building alot and i mean ALOT of movespeed.

Nothing like putting the ball on a Jarvan and he e-qs, and right as he is about to ult you have your finger ready to hit R, then he ults or flashes the same time you hit R and suddenly you ult yourself because he didn't know he was just a hair outside of your range with that last jump, and you just look like a derp.

Digivolve3 votes

I wish people knew the range of my ult as kayle sometimes, so many blown flashes just to try to save a guy too panic stricken to realize if he took two steps back he would get 3 seconds of sweet golden immortality.

Sadly this tends to be an issue for a lot of abilities.

"Kayle wtf why didn't you ult me?" as they are running away from you "What Morg, no shield?" As they were barely out of range "Blitz, why didn't you hook?" has if Blitz hook as infinite hook range

The list goes on. It would be nice if others knew your ranges, but would be a mess of clutter to show everyone's ability ranges.

Is still frustrating to get yelled at for not ulting someone when there was no way to do so, or being mocked for Ori ulting yourself because as you hit R the tank dove out of your ball range that same moment.

JevelFaithful1 votes

Amen. If you aren't sure about the range, assume the guy knows what he's doing.

Or at least, when you ask the question : "Kayle wtf why didn't you ult me?". Accept the answer when it comes : "You were out of range".

Hmmm... it'd be a pretty big visual stimulus though, Like, it'd be distracting, and possibly confusing for players not used to Ori. Are there any other champs that have a similar visual mechanic?

Antonok1 votes

Be like Zilean bombs. Just on a larger scale.

shadowhunter44441 votes

Some do while charging. This would show while you have the ball.

SociopathFriend2 votes

Also people need to know Ori ball on you means her ult goes off ON YOU.

Wow. It's so simple, but so awesome at the same time. Great idea!

Oriania's mechanics are kind of counter intuitive and limited. The idea of Oriana's ball teleporting back to her is garbage. It is supposed to be a zone control that moves, it should never teleport at all. Her range indicator should just be the maximum range she can launch the ball from, not a limitation on where it can travel to. If it leaves the zone for a few seconds then make it start to travel back to her.

good point. i like the idea and it will help her team mates a lot in teamfighting

Great idea. I think if one of the reds see this it will be implemented right away.

On the subject of the ball, it'd also be nice for you to get a visual circle for the ball's range when you q it away. Be better for using it for a ward without having to keep an eye on the arrow while you try to keep it in place. But i agree, it'd be welcome to have a range indicator for ori's ball. (would help for ori support. works surprisingly well, but teammates don't get the range easily) It would even help beyond the ult, just in general fights. a maxed ori e gives pretty significant armor and magic resist. stick it on a carry and they can just win a duel. if they go too far, though. . . it's no fun.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

Maybe even the color-changing arrow on the ball, if a range circle is too much.

phillydsteak1 votes

Seems like a good idea, but an ally like Rengar or RekSai could confuse it with one of their range circles. I agree though, it would just need to be distinctive.

Rhyto1 votes

I always end up having to burn a flash if my engaging tank just rushes on in with my ball and my range just barely makes it for the combo. That'd be a worthwhile feature to add-in.

This is a great idea, i don't know how much teamfights ive lost because of this last season, no one knows the ball range. its maybe because of that , that I stopped playing Orianna
