Account Decay question

I just hit diamond yesterday and i really dont want to risk being demoted back to plat before the season ends. So if i just dont play ranked until the season ends will my account decay out of diamond? Thanks in advance for the feedback!

i think you have to play every 7 days in order not to decay in diamond also your MMR needs to drop from diamond 5 to plat 5 to drop to plat 1 so you should be fine you get like a dew mercy games aswell when you join a new tier from demotion

It's still 28 days for Diamond. The 7 days for Master/Challenger was actually changed to requiring them to play 10 games every 10 days.

Thabk you for all the info! Does riot give me sort of warning if im approaching the decay mark?

You will receive a popup notification when you are approaching decay. I believe it starts showing up a week out.

WHAT IS DECAY?

If you are in Platinum or Diamond, after 28 days of inactivity in a particular ranked queue, a couple things will happen. First, you’ll be hidden from the standings in your league. You will also lose LP depending on your current tier. Every seven days thereafter, you’ll lose LP until you play a match in that queue. Diamond players lose 50 LP, Platinum players lose 35.

Master and Challenger work a bit differently:

Each game you play in Master and Challenger tier is stored as a "banked game," up to a maximum of 10.
Each day, 1 banked game is removed from your reserves.
When your banked games reach 0, you'll lose 100 LP per day until you bank more games.
Wins and losses both count toward banked games; all that matters is that you play. You can track your banked games in your profile, in the Leagues tab.

If you fall at or below zero LP as a result of decay, you’ll be placed into the next lowest division. If you’re already in division V of your tier, you’ll fall into the next tier down (for example, Platinum V to Gold I.). Tl;dr: don’t take a break from ranked for too long. :)

Decay does not occur for players in Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
