Voice Chat in League of Legends
Not sure if this belongs in the Gameplay forums or the concepts forums so just going to leave it here.
I'm going to try and make this as short and simple as I possibly can but don't expect it to be short or simple because it won't be.
I personally am one of the minority that likes Dynamic queue, I've been one to enjoy team and objective based games for a long time and have been doing online gaming since I was 9 and am turning 18 in only about 1 1/2 months and with nearly 2000 hours on TF2, 700 on CSGO, already close to probably 60 hours on Overwatch (although that includes open beta weekend time as well) and almost 1200 hours on League of Legends on NA servers (not including any other accounts or servers) the reason I am bringing this all up is to get the point across of me trying to say, "Hey, I have a lot of hours put into team and objective based games I like to think and say I have experience especially when a lot of the time is trying to play competitively and win."
Now that my I guess, "Reason to take into consideration what I have to say" segment is over, those who read the title of the post will know the point of this post is about Voice Communication in League of Legends and why I think it would be nothing but beneficial.
First off, although I don't know much about coding, I can't picture making voice communications work in League of Legends taking too much work and only a hand full of resources. I also really don't see how exactly it could conflict with other parts of the game unless they make it change other values when people start to talk.
My 2nd point and although I don't think it's a huge point to be in favor of the idea, I think this would be a good way to use the PBE and test the function. Can see from the PBE players reactions after implemented if voice communication is actually wanted or not, to see what errors it creates, and to see exactly how this can change games having the added communication.
My 3rd point is that like every game, voice communication could be a simple option not a requirement. Just like how people can turn off the language filter you could easily turn off voice communication. If you decide to use it and don't like what some people are saying just mute them.
My 4th point, which I honestly feel like this is my personal favorite point, I think the amount of toxic behavior in games would go down drastically. I know it sounds stupid, but this is why I brought up my initial hours played on multiple team/objective based games. People have no problem speaking up about things over text because they know if anyone talks back it's just text that they can ignore and they know a lot of people can't be bothered to type back to defend themselves or others even though they know the original person being toxic is wrong. If Voice Communication was implemented I feel like the toxic players would die out a bit as people are scared to speak up and talk shit about small misplays as they know it takes people a lot less effort to press 1 button and talk and ridicule the original person right on back.
The 5th and I believe final point is the one that makes the most sense and it should be obvious to everyone. Better teamwork. Yes, I know what people are going to say already, "You already got pings they're already enough to communicate." Well not everyone pays full attention to pings and if you're playing a character or role that revolves around teamwork and setting others up for things (mainly Jungle and Support) sometimes you need a little bit more then a few pings to tell your team what your plan is. Imagine being jungle, and trying to tell your team in a team fight for dragon that you can take it if they focus the enemy jungle as you can easily out smite it, but they're way too caught up on killing the enemy ADC. How're you going to type to your team the plan when you don't have time cause you're in the middle of a fight, and how're you going to ping "Kill the jungle I can take the dragon for free if he dies then we can turn and fight or walk away for free" when your team is tunnel visioning on the damage dealers.
I think that's pretty much everything I have to say without thinking a bit more first on what to say. If people reply all I ask is that if you bring up any statistics to prove why Voice Communication wouldn't help if not be harmful to the game, please show proof. I've spoken to someone about this before and they had made up numbers for all the points they tried to make and refused to find and show proof.
