What to do when mid lane roams

CalmDownSummoner··1 votes·2,072 views

I have just played 3 games that in all of them, was flamed for not following my laner. I pinged 4 times(2 that they were missing and 2 to be careful) and I get the "why didn't you follow" plus unnecessary insults. I understand this is ok some of the time, when you can fight your laner at the time of the game, but what must I do when my laner is talon, tf, Taliyah, etc? I see it as I don't follow against those champs, or ones who would almost always win if they were to catch me out in the jg or river.

You push your lane

It really is context dependent.

If you freeze and happily resume farming while opponent is active on map, you are definitely in the wrong, there has to be some response from you that punishes the roam in some way.

Now you have to get something done while he is gone. Steal a scuttle. Rob a camp. Ward a buff, push the tower. Will your side lane stall as the noob talon is waiting on a ward for the wave to crash the tower? maybe you want to join and turn a gank into a team fight? You need jungler there? ping him now, and wait for him to be on way before heading out?

Or maybe counter roam? Talon wants to kill bot lane? sure, have him deal with the fed jax you've set up in top lane, see how he likes it.

You have to have some kind of plan, to get an advantage against your lane opponent. Can't leave it to the ineptitude of your team mates. Especially if they are ahead and you are behind, the worse thing for them is your opponent interrupting their winning.

To conclude, i don't know exactly what you should do. But if you just kept last hitting with autos as your opponent roamed? you didn't do that something.

You cant follow Talon. His roam is to powerful. Even with TP he will still out roam you.

Talon is the top ban in midlane right now and thats is one of the many reasons. If you fight Talon pick a powerful lane pusher like Ahri Morgana or Ekko. You can probably get his tower on his second roam

safe and easy thing to do is spam MIA ping, or if you know where the enemy is roaming ping danger right on top of them as well.

ward to help know where the enemy roamed.

Push the lane.

If the enemy invests a lot of effort into roaming, but you deny them any kills, think of that as a win. Good chance they get frustrated and over extend trying to finally make a play.

Probably some better responses in specific situations, but I'm not good enough to know ;)

Ping MIA twice, ping be careful twice. Push the lane, drop some deep wards, go gank the opposite lane if your that slow. Or get some autos on the turret to deter the opponent from roaming again. While estimating time for them to get back

Push the lane and take the tower. Get a CS lead. If you dont think you can get the tower, roam yourself. Go top if they went bot. Hunt down the enemy jungler if you think you can take them. The worst thing you can do is just sit and last hit though, even if you pinged care and mia.

You ward the mid/bot river middle section. And you push it.

Normally people do not ward the section between the lanes and it tends to be a huge advantage to your laners.

At the very least, when I get popped botlane by your mid opponent, I expect to see his tower getting his CS. I understand that there are times when you can't follow, but you gotta do something to make him pay for leaving his lane. Just shove the wave and go back if you're low.
